Getting Started - Recovering Pruned and Deleted Data

Getting Started Advanced FAQ Best Practices

If the meta data is deleted from the CommServe by the data aging process, you can recover the actual backup data if it is available in the physical media using the following steps.

For example:

In the “vaulting” event where the tape is in the vault, but has been aged or deleted in the CommServe – and if the tape has not come back in to the scratch pool for overwrite - or it has not been erased – then you should be able to use this method to re-activate those old jobs by importing them back into the CommCell.

This capability is supported for Windows-based pruned and deleted data only.
