About this Report

The Data Protection Job Success report displays a high level summary of the progress status of all backup jobs over a specified period of time.

When to use this Report

Use this report to review the overall success rate of the backup jobs for your CommCells. If you have addressed potential causes of failure after analyzing the report, run this report again to verify if the number of successful backups have increased.

What this Report Contains

This report presents the data in the following sections:

Summary for all Selected CommCells Job Success Chart This chart displays the number of backup jobs for all CommCells with the following information:
  • Completed
  • Failed
  • Killed
Job Success Table This table provides the same information as in the chart.
CommCell Job Success Chart This chart displays the number of backup jobs of a specific CommCell with the following information:
  • Completed
  • Failed
  • Killed
Job Success Table This table provides the same information as in the chart.

How to Generate the Report

1.
  • From the CommNet Browser, click Reports.
  • Under Data Protection Reports, click Job Success Report.

  • Under Cell Selection, expand the CommCells node and select the CommCell(s) to be included in this report.
  • Click Generate.

Scheduling and Saving a Report

After a report is generated, you can schedule a new report and save it to an specific location as a PDF, excel spreadsheet or MHTML file. Scheduling and saving reports will help you analyze and compare data from your CommCells.

Follow the steps below to create a schedule:

  • Click Schedule from the top of the report window.
  • Type the name of the schedule and enter a description.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the appropriate schedule options. For example:
    • Select the time zone.
    • Select the start date and the frequency to generate the report.
    • Change the Start Time to 9:00 PM
    • Click Repeat Task and configure at which interval the schedule should be repeated.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the file format.
  • Click Save To File to save the report to a local drive or network share.

    Specify the Destination Path for the output file.

  • You can also click Send E-Mail to User(s) and/or User Groups(s) to send the report as an email attachment to a user or user group.
  • Click Finish.

The report will be generated as specified in the schedule task.

Customizations That You Can Perform With This Report

You can further customize the report by using the filters available in the report. To access the filter options, click Filters at the top of the report window as shown in the image. After making your selections, click Generate to update the report.  

The following table describes the available filter options.

Filter Description
Time Range Selection You can adjust the reporting period as follows:
  • Specify the number of days.
  • Exclude the most current data by clearing the Include current period checkbox.
  • Display the backup coverage between a specified time.
Override CommCell Weekend configuration By default, the report treats Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the WeekEnd category. You can list weekend days separately by selecting Show Friday, Saturday and Sunday as separate days.
Chart Options By default, the chart displays stacking bars with gridlines. You can change the chart display from the Chart Type drop-down list.

You can change the chart to plot based on the job percentage by clicking Percentage.

You can also choose to display one or more coverage status by selecting them from Include Status.

Draw Table Using By default, the table is displayed in image format. You can choose to view the table in text format by clicking Text. This is useful when colors cannot be identified e.g., viewing a black and white printout of the report.
Cell Selection You can refine your cell selection by expanding the CommCells and Cell-Client Groups nodes:
  • Select multiple CommCells and/or Cell-Client Groups.
  • Select a specific client and/or client group from a CommCell.

Additional Reports

The following report is not considered a primary report as it derives from the Data Protection Job Success report.

Data Protection Detail Report

This report provides a comprehensive list of all the backup operations for a given date. You can access this report by clicking an active bar/grid from the graphs in the main report.

You can customize this report in the following ways:

  • By filtering the backup jobs based on their status using the Filters from the top of the window.
  • By changing the default tree view of the listed jobs to a Table View.

If you require further information on a particular backup job, double-click the job from the list to access the Job Detail dialog box.
