About this Report

This report displays the current configuration of a client and its associated storage policy along with a summary of the backup operations that were performed for the client.

When to use this Report

This report can be used to quickly find when the last backup operation occurred for each of the client entities within an agent. This report is also useful when analyzing the risks a client may face by identifying which clients have their data protected and if proper backup schedules are set.

What this Report Contains

For each agent in the selected CommCell, this report presents the data in the following sections:

Section Description
Schedules Chart The pie chart shows the percentage of clients that have, or do not have, data protection schedules.
Subclient Information This table provides a summary of the latest backup operations for each client entity. This summary includes information on:
  • Readiness of the subclient for the next backup operation
  • Time of the latest full, incremental, differential and log backup operations
  • Time of the next backup operation
  • Size and contents of the latest backup operation
  • Storage policy, subclient policy and schedule availability
Subclient/Storage Policy Copy Relationship This table provides a summary of all backup operations for each client entity associated with a storage policy. This summary includes information on:
  • Storage policy and storage policy copy used by each subclient
  • Retention rules associated with the storage policy of the subclient
  • Overall size and number of all backup operations e.g., full, incremental, differential
  • Time of the oldest and latest backup operations
Schedule Policy Information This table provides the following information for each client entity:
  • Schedule policy
  • Description, pattern and time zone of the schedule policy

How to Generate the Report

  • From the CommNet Browser, click Reports.
  • Under Data Protection Reports, click Client Summary Report.

  • Under Cell Selection, expand the CommCells node and select the CommCell(s) to be included in this report.
  • Click Generate.

Scheduling and Saving a Report

After a report is generated, you can schedule a new report and save it to an specific location as a PDF, excel spreadsheet or MHTML file. Scheduling and saving reports will help you analyze and compare data from your CommCells.

Follow the steps below to create a schedule:

  • Click Schedule from the top of the report window.
  • Type the name of the schedule and enter a description.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the appropriate schedule options. For example:
    • Select the time zone.
    • Select the start date and the frequency to generate the report.
    • Change the Start Time to 9:00 PM
    • Click Repeat Task and configure at which interval the schedule should be repeated.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the file format.
  • Click Save To File to save the report to a local drive or network share.

    Specify the Destination Path for the output file.

  • You can also click Send E-Mail to User(s) and/or User Groups(s) to send the report as an email attachment to a user or user group.
  • Click Finish.

The report will be generated as specified in the schedule task.

Customizations that you can perform with this Report

You can further customize the report by using the filters available in the report. To access the filter options, click Filters at the top of the report window as shown in the image. After making your selections, click Generate to update the report.  

The following table describes the available filter options.

Filter Description
Client Status Selection By default, all clients are included in the report. You can exclude specific clients by selecting the following options:
  • Select Clients with No Data protection in last <x> day(s) to include clients that never backed up their default subclients.

    Click Exclude those without schedules to include clients whose scheduled backups did not complete successfully.

  • Select Clients with no schedules to include clients that do not have schedules set up.
Include Uninstalled Clients By default, the report includes information on uninstalled clients. You can choose to exclude this information by clearing this option.
Include Deleted Subclients By default, the report includes information on deleted subclients. You can choose to exclude this information by clearing this option.
Include Storage Policy Copy Information By default, the report includes the Subclient/Storage Policy Copy Relationship table. You can choose to exclude this table by clearing this option.
Include Schedule Policy Information By default, the report includes the Schedule Policy Information table. You can choose to exclude this table by clearing this option.
Include Pie Chart By default, the report includes the Schedules pie chart. You can choose to exclude this chart by clearing this option.
Exclude Command Line Subclients By default, the report excludes subclients that were created using the command line interface. You can choose to include this information by clearing this option.
Cell Selection You can refine your cell selection by expanding the CommCells and Cell-Client Groups nodes:
  • Select multiple CommCells and/or Cell-Client Groups.
  • Select a specific client and/or client group from a CommCell.
Column Selection If you need to include further subclient information, you can add additional columns to the table by selecting the column name from the Available pane.
