Load Detail Report

About this Report

The Load report displays the job activity status and peak load status for a CommCell as well as data transfer activity for the MediaAgents available in the CommCell. In this report, backup jobs also include data replication operations.

When to use this Report

Use this report to find the best date/time to schedule your backup jobs by analyzing time periods when the network becomes overloaded. You can avoid the following by using this report:

What this Report Contains

This report presents the data in the following sections:

Sections Sub-Sections Description
CommCell Load Job Activity Chart The chart displays the number of jobs for the selected CommCell running over a specified time period, and with the following status information:
  • Jobs/Streams transferring
  • Jobs preparing to transfer
  • Jobs/Streams waiting
  • Jobs pending
Job Activity Detail The table provides the same information as in the chart.
Peak Load Conditions The following four tables display the data transfer details for the selected CommCell:
  • Transferring Data
  • Preparing to Transfer Data
  • Waiting to Transfer Data
  • Job Pending
Watermark Comparison The chart displays the stream usage during a specified time range against the stream-usage threshold. Watermarks indicate the maximum number of streams that the Job Manager can use simultaneously.
MediaAgent Load MediaAgent Load Chart The chart displays the number of data links being transferred for each MediaAgent over a specified time period.
MediaAgent Load Detail The table provides the same information as in the chart.

How to Generate the Report

  • From the CommNet Browser, click Reports.
  • Under Other Reports, click Load Report.

  • Under Cell Selection, expand the CommCells node and select the CommCell(s) to be included in this report.
  • Click Generate.

Scheduling and Saving a Report

After a report is generated, you can schedule a new report and save it to an specific location as a PDF, excel spreadsheet or MHTML file. Scheduling and saving reports will help you analyze and compare data from your CommCells.

Follow the steps below to create a schedule:

  • Click Schedule from the top of the report window.
  • Type the name of the schedule and enter a description.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the appropriate schedule options. For example:
    • Select the time zone.
    • Select the start date and the frequency to generate the report.
    • Change the Start Time to 9:00 PM
    • Click Repeat Task and configure at which interval the schedule should be repeated.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the file format.
  • Click Save To File to save the report to a local drive or network share.

    Specify the Destination Path for the output file.

  • You can also click Send E-Mail to User(s) and/or User Groups(s) to send the report as an email attachment to a user or user group.
  • Click Finish.

The report will be generated as specified in the schedule task.

Customizations That You Can Perform With This Report

You can further customize the report by using the filters available in the report. To access the filter options, click Filters at the top of the report window as shown in the image. After making your selections, click Generate to update the report.  

The following table describes the available filter options.

Filter Description
Time Range Selection You can adjust the reporting period as follows:
  • Specify the number of minutes/hours/days.
  • Display the job activity between a specified time. You can also specify the time interval to plot a point in the chart every minute/hour/day.
Cell Selection You can refine your cell selection by expanding the CommCells node and selecting another CommCell.

If you want to include certain MediaAgents in your report (to update the MediaAgent Load chart and table), choose one of the following methods:

  • Specify the number of MediaAgents in the Generate MediaAgent Load for top option.
  • Click Selected MediaAgents Only and select the MediaAgents you want to include from the CommCells node.

Additional Reports

The following report is not considered a primary report as it derives from the Load report.

Load Detail Report

This report provides a comprehensive list of all the backup operations for a specified time range. You can access this report by clicking a non-zero value in the following tables from the Peak Load Condition section:
  • Transferring Data
  • Jobs Pending

You can customize this report in the following ways:

  • By filtering the backup jobs based on their finished or incomplete status using the Filters from the top of the window.
  • By changing the default tree view of the listed jobs to a Table View.
