Use this report to predict the media/capacity consumption for the libraries
in your CommCells over a specified time period. This is calculated by
considering the history of the media consumption.
For tape/optical libraries, you can also:
predict when each library will run out of spare media. This is
calculated by looking at the media consumption and media available in the
scratch pool for each library.
obtain information on the number of removable media that will be used
and recycled in a specified period of time.
For disk libraries, you can also:
predict when each library will run out of free disk space. This is
calculated by looking at the capacity consumption and capacity available on
all of the mount paths configured for the library.
obtain information on the capacity consumption and capacity freed in a
specified period of time.
This report presents the data in the following sections:

Description
Summary for all Selected CommCells
Tape/Optical Library
The table displays the following information for all the tape/optical libraries
in the selected CommCell(s):
Default media type
Total spare available
Total media consumption and media freed predicted for the next n
period
Day when spare media runs out using freed media. This is an optimistic
prediction which takes into account the spare removable media that will be
freed each day.
Day when spare media runs out without freed media. This is pessimistic
prediction which uses the spares currently available in the library.
The Default Media Type information
is displayed if the option for automatic media discovery is
enabled in the library. You can enable this option using the
CommCell Console.
Disk Library
The table displays the following information for all the disks libraries in the
selected CommCell(s):
Total space available
Total space consumption and space freed predicted for the next n
period
Day when space runs out using freed media. This is an optimistic
prediction which takes into account the spare removable media that will be
freed each day.
Day when space runs out without freed media. This is pessimistic
prediction which uses the space currently available in the library.
CommCell
<Library>
The following charts are displayed for a library in the selected CommCell:
Spare Media Consumed/Freed Trend and Predicted Trend, which
displays the current and predicted spare media consumed/freed over a
specified period of time.
Spare Media Cumulative Prediction, which displays the predicted
spare media consumption with and without freed media.
After a report is generated, you can schedule a new report and save it
to an specific location as a PDF, excel spreadsheet or MHTML file.
Scheduling and saving reports will help you analyze and compare data
from your CommCells.
Follow the steps below to create a schedule:
Click Schedule from the top of the report window.
Type the name of the schedule and enter a description.
Click Next.
Select the appropriate schedule options. For example:
Select the time zone.
Select the start date and the frequency to generate the report.
Change the Start Time to 9:00 PM
Click Repeat Task and configure at which interval the
schedule should be repeated.
Click Next.
Select the file format.
Click Save To File to save the report to a local drive or
network share.
Specify the Destination Path for the output
file.
You can also click Send E-Mail to User(s) and/or User Groups(s) to
send the report as an email attachment to a user or user group.
Click Finish.
The report will be generated as
specified in the schedule task.
You can further customize the report by using
the filters available in the report. To access the filter options, click Filters
at the top of the report window as shown in the image. After making your
selections, click Generate to update the report.
The following table describes the available filter options.

Description
Period Selection
You can adjust the prediction period to obtain accurate prediction
values based on the pattern for the backup operations in your CommCell.
By default, the space consumption prediction is set for the next
7 days, using a 7 day repetition pattern. You can set a different
time period by specifying the number of days/weeks/months/years for
the prediction. Ensure to take into account the backup pattern in
your environment to obtain a better predicition.
By default, the space consumption prediction is based on the
last 14 days. You can set a different time period by specifying the
number of days/weeks/months/years for the prediction.
You can also choose to exclude the most current data by clearing
the Include current period checkbox.
Media prediction is based on media consumed
in the specified history dates. If the media consumption on the
specified dates are not consistent, the predicted values may
differ.
Chart Options
By default, the Spare Media (Space) Used/Freed Trend and Predicted
Trend chart displays stacking bars with gridlines. You can change
the chart display from the Chart Type drop-down list. You can
also choose to display specific media information by clearing one of the
checkboxes from Include.
By default, the Spare Media (Space)
Cumulative Prediction chart uses plots to display the
information. You can change the chart display from the Chart Type
drop-down list.
CommCell Selection
You can refine your CommCell selection in the following ways:
Add or remove CommCells
Add or remove libraries from a CommCell by expanding the
CommCell node.
