Media Information Detail Report

About this Report

The Media Information report displays detailed status information about the media (including aggregated media) used across CommCells.

When to use this Report

Use this report to review the status and usage of the media in a CommCell.

What this Report Contains

This report presents the data in the following section:

Section Description
Aggregated Media Information The table displays a high-level status of the media entity (e.g., container).
  Media that is not associated with the media entity will be listed as Not Available.
Detailed Media Information The table displays comprehensive details about each media counted in the Aggregated Media Information table, such as:
  • Barcode
  • Library
  • Media type and status
  • Creation time

How to Generate the Report

  • From the CommNet Browser, click Reports.
  • Under Media Management Reports, click Media Information.

  • Under Media Selection, select the Include Media Details checkbox.
  • Click Generate.

Scheduling and Saving a Report

After a report is generated, you can schedule a new report and save it to an specific location as a PDF, excel spreadsheet or MHTML file. Scheduling and saving reports will help you analyze and compare data from your CommCells.

Follow the steps below to create a schedule:

  • Click Schedule from the top of the report window.
  • Type the name of the schedule and enter a description.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the appropriate schedule options. For example:
    • Select the time zone.
    • Select the start date and the frequency to generate the report.
    • Change the Start Time to 9:00 PM
    • Click Repeat Task and configure at which interval the schedule should be repeated.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the file format.
  • Click Save To File to save the report to a local drive or network share.

    Specify the Destination Path for the output file.

  • You can also click Send E-Mail to User(s) and/or User Groups(s) to send the report as an email attachment to a user or user group.
  • Click Finish.

The report will be generated as specified in the schedule task.

Customizations That You Can Perform With This Report

You can further customize the report by using the filters available in the report. To access the filter options, click Filters at the top of the report window as shown in the image. After making your selections, click Generate to update the report.  

The following table describes the available filter options.

Filter Description
Display Options By default, the media is grouped and sorted by Container. You can choose a different media entity from the Group By and Sort By drop-down lists.
Include Media Details By default, the report excludes the Detailed Media Information table. You can choose to include this table by selecting the Include Media Details checkbox.
Include Media Inside Library By default, the report displays the media inside the assigned library. You can choose to exclude this information by clearing this option.
Include Media Outside Library By default, the report displays the media outside the assigned library. You can choose to exclude this information by clearing this option.
Media Status By default, all the media states are included in the report. If you want specific status to be displayed, clear the media status checkbox you want to exclude.
Media with Error Only By default, the report includes all media used for the selected CommCells. You can choose to only display media with errors by selecting this option.
Prevent Export By default, the report excludes information on export prevention. When you select this option, the following columns will be added to the Aggregated Media Information table:
  • Prevent Export, which will indicate whether the media has been set to prevent export.
  • Exportable Time, which will indicate the point-in-time when an export operation is allowed to take place.
Time Range Selection By default, no time range is defined to obtain the media information. You can adjust the reporting period as follows:
  • Specify if you want to display the media information by the last write time, last export time or both.
  • Based on your write/export time selection, specify the number of hours/days/weeks/months/years.
  • Exclude the most current data by clearing the Include current period checkbox.
  • Display the media information between a specified time.
Entity Selection By default, all the CommCells in your CommNet domain are included in the report, as well as all libraries, locations, storage policy copies and media repositories. You can refine your entity selection in the following ways:
  • Clear all options (e.g., Include All Libraries, Include All Locations) and select the CommCells and the media entities you want to include in the report.
  • Depending on the information you want to display (e.g., display only libraries), clear the options for the information you do not want the report to display.
Column Selection By default, no columns are selected to be displayed in the report. You can include columns from the Available pane using the Add button.

Additional Reports

The following report is not considered a primary report as it derives from the Media Information report.

Media Information Detail Report

This report displays complete media information details for the selected entity. You can access this report by clicking an entity from the Aggregate Media Information table in the main report.

The tables displayed for the selected entity are the same as the ones provided in the main report. You can customize this report by using the filters explained above.
