About this Report

The Update Status report displays the current software condition of all clients and agents in a CommCell.

When to use this Report

Use this report to check if the clients in your CommCell are up-to-date with the latest updates and service packs according to their baseline. The updates found in the CommServe Cache directory are considered the baseline for the updates that should be distributed throughout the CommCell environment.

By identifying clients/agents that need to be updated, you can prevent any potential software conflict.

What this Report Contains

This report presents the data in the following sections:

Sections Description
Client Overview The pie chart displays the overall percentage of clients in the CommCell with the following status:
  • Up to date, if the client computer matches the baseline.
  • N/A, if the update status cannot be determined due to an error or uninstalled client.
  • Needs update
  • Has Diagnostic Update, if diagnostic updates have been installed on the client computer.
  • Ahead of Cache, if the client computer exceeds the baseline level of updates in the CommServe Cache.
  • Unknown Baseline, if the baseline level of the CommServe Cache directory cannot be determined due to an error.
Package Overview The pie chart displays the overall percentage of packages (or agents) in the CommCell with the same status information displayed in the Client Overview chart.
Update Status Info The table displays the following update status details for each of the clients/packages in the CommCell:
  • Software version
  • Update status
  • Installed Service Pack number
  • Additional Updates
  • Missing Updates
  • Available Service Packs
  • Baseline Updates present in the cache

How to Generate the Report

  • From the CommNet Browser, click Reports.
  • Under Other Reports, click Update Status.

  • Under Entity Selection, expand the CommCells node and select the CommCell(s) to be included in this report.
  • Under Package Selection, select the packages (or agents) to be included in this report and click Add.
  • Click Generate.

Scheduling and Saving a Report

After a report is generated, you can schedule a new report and save it to an specific location as a PDF, excel spreadsheet or MHTML file. Scheduling and saving reports will help you analyze and compare data from your CommCells.

Follow the steps below to create a schedule:

  • Click Schedule from the top of the report window.
  • Type the name of the schedule and enter a description.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the appropriate schedule options. For example:
    • Select the time zone.
    • Select the start date and the frequency to generate the report.
    • Change the Start Time to 9:00 PM
    • Click Repeat Task and configure at which interval the schedule should be repeated.
  • Click Next.
  • Select the file format.
  • Click Save To File to save the report to a local drive or network share.

    Specify the Destination Path for the output file.

  • You can also click Send E-Mail to User(s) and/or User Groups(s) to send the report as an email attachment to a user or user group.
  • Click Finish.

The report will be generated as specified in the schedule task.

Customizations That You Can Perform With This Report

You can further customize the report by using the filters available in the report. To access the filter options, click Filters at the top of the report window as shown in the image. After making your selections, click Generate to update the report.  

The following table describes the available filter options.

Filter Description
Entity Selection You can refine your cell selection by expanding the CommCells node and selecting another CommCell.
Package Selection You can refine your selection by adding or removing packages (or agents) from the Selected pane.
Status Selection By default, all the update status are selected. You can customize your selection by clearing the update status option you want to exclude.
Show Client Level Aggregate Only By default, this report includes update status information for the packages (or agents) that are included for each client in the CommCell. You can exclude this information by clearing this option.
