Removable Disk Drives (e.g., Quantum GoVault, ProStor RDX, Dell RD1000, etc.) can be configured as stand-alone drives. All operations supported by stand-alone drives are supported by such devices. Removable disks are drive enclosure devices that retain a persistent drive letter in the Operating System, regardless of whether or not a disk media is loaded into the enclosure (similar to the behavior of floppy drives.).
This feature requires a Feature License to be available in the CommServe® Server.

On Linux platforms, when media from a removable SATA disk drive is manually ejected, the Operating System might have problems in sensing the media when reloaded. To ensure proper access, use one of the following methods to unload/eject the media.
