Electric Power Supply Interface
If the site contains an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS or
"DC-AC inverter"), the following conditions must be respected:
- UPS installed in the computing room:
- The UPS must be equipped with water-proof and
dust-proof batteries
- Before installing the UPS, check with the manufacturer that the noise level and
frequency (in Hertz) are compatible with the comfort of people working in the vicinity.
- Also make sure that its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) characteristics meet current
standards and that it cannot harm the proper operation of the computer hardware - for
example, that it bears the following marking:
- UPS installed in a technical room:
- If the batteries are of the "open" type, they must be installed in a specific
environment which takes account of emanations of hydrogen, as described in standard NF
C15.100 of May 1991, Part 5 - section 554.
- Full account should be taken of the heat dissipation of this equipment because it can be
quite significant and may require the installation of an air-conditioning system
(manufacturer's recommendation: to maintain optimum battery life, the ambient temperature
of this room should never exceed 25°C).
