PrKB11900 : R460 E1 - Raid Onboard driver installation with Red Hat 5u2 (i386/X86_64 Initial Release)

Installation procedure

 

On the R460 E1 you have the possibility to make a Raid 0 and 1 with the SATA controler on board. The Raid use the LSI stack in the BIOS.


Making Driver Media :

Burn the ISO file with your favorite burning software. The ISO file contains all achitectures for RedHat 5U2

megasr-11.02.0626.2008-1-rhel50-u2-all.iso

 

Installation

1) Boot on your RedHat media (cd-rom, dvd)

2) At the prompt type :

linux dd noprobe=ata1 noprobe=ata2 noprobe=ata3 noprobe=ata4

3) A message box is displayed :

« Do you have a driver disk ? »

4) Choose :

« Yes ».

5) A new message box is displayed :

« Insert your driver disk into ...... ».

6) Choose :

« Yes » and Press « Enter »

7) After few minutes, on the box, megasr driver is displayed.

8) After the driver loaded, a new message appears :

« Do you wish to load any more driver disk ? »

9) If you need to load another driver repeat step 6 to 9 or clic on « No » to continue on step 10.

10) Continue the normal installation of your RedHat Version.

11) At the end of the installation please do not clic on « Restart »

12) It's necessary we open a text console, press :

[CTRL] [ALT] [F2]

13) By default the optical device is hda, we need to create the mounting point, type :

mkdir /cdrom

14)Now, we mount the optical device (CDROM), type :

mount /dev/hda /cdrom

15)We finalize the installation with the right parameters, type :

cd /cdrom

./replace_ahci.sh

16)After fews seconds the system comes back with the prompt

17)We return into the graphical interface, please press :

[CTRL] [ALT] [F6]

18) Clic in the « Restart » Box

19) The system reboot
