Browsing Application Data in QR Volumes

Overview

Browse operation allows you to see what QR Volume(s) and/or snapshots have been created for a client computer without actually recovering the QR Volume. Browse options are accessible from the Browse QR Volumes dialog box, from which you can:

Once a QR Volume has been created, it is essential to keep track of its physical location and its relationship to the application data stored on the primary volume. The Quick Recovery Agent provides the tools necessary to organize and manage the QR Volumes.

To view a list of all available QR Volumes associated with a given client, right-click the client's Quick Recovery Agent icon and select Browse. The Browse QR Volumes window displays vital information about each volume, including its capacity, status, current mount point (if any), and the primary volume from which it was derived. The controls in the Browse QR Volumes window may be used to delete a QR Volume or to modify its properties.

NOTES

Right-clicking a QR Volume and/or Snapshot and selecting Details... opens a Volume Configuration dialog box. Using this dialog you can edit volume properties, and perform operations such as mounting a volume or snapshot. Note that Unix snapshots can be mounted as read-only volumes.

Browsing Application Data in QR Volumes

When using the QR Agent in conjunction with a supported application iDataAgent, the relationships between existing QR Volumes and application data objects can be viewed by right-clicking the respective iDataAgent icon and selecting Browse Backup Data, or Browse SQL Server (for SQL clients). The available QR Volumes will appear in a Snapshots folder attached to the corresponding application object (for example, an instance of Microsoft SQL Server.) It is also possible to launch an application-level recovery operation from the application iDataAgent's Browse window.
