The list and buttons control which archive files are displayed and how you can store the archive file database.
Display data corresponding to
Select a filter from the Display data corresponding to list instructs Media Explorer to enforce specific application rules while handling the data.
Use All Data option to view all files (even those not specifically supported by Media Explorer). Data recovery operations using this option will be treated as file system files (i.e., no application rules would be used). It is recommended to recover data while having this option selected only when there is no other choice to recover the data. An example might be attempting to recover application data for an application that does not exist in the list. For more information, contact your service provider.

Finalize Catalog
Oracle DB only.
Regenerates the Oracle catalog file droracle-1.txt based on the contents of the current catalog database, in cases where the droracle-1.txt has become damaged or deleted. This file contains Archive File Name(s) and associated Tape Barcode(s) or Magnetic Path(s) used for restore. Regenerating droracle-1.txt avoids having to catalog the media again in the event of a problem with this file.
New
Click to open the New Catalog Database dialog box, in which you can direct the cataloging to a new database. Use this feature to separate the media which has been cataloged by keeping them in different databases.
Open
Click to open a previously saved catalog database. When a new catalog database is opened, all existing entries in the catalog pane are flushed.
Exit
Terminates the Media Explorer application. Any open catalog database is closed and all entries are saved. If a catalog operation is currently running you should wait until cataloging is complete before selecting Exit.
Current database file path
Specifies the filename of the current Media Explorer database being used. By default the catalog database name will be DRdatabase.dat. You can start a new database or open an existing database using the New and Open buttons.

Generate Metadata
Click to generate metadata. You can use Media Explorer to generate metadata information from a backup media and use the metadata to merge the backup data back into the CommCell. For more information, see Import Metadata from a Tape or Optical Media on Books Online.
