Overview

The primary purpose of EZ Backup and EZ Restore operations is to secure your data to media in a simple and easy-to-use way, for recovery at a later time. This feature allows you to back up client files and directories from the CommCell Console, and restore them as needed, without requiring expert-level knowledge or an understanding of advanced data management concepts. EZ Backup and EZ Restore are currently available for use with the Windows and Unix File system iDataAgents.

Features

Several easy-to-use features have been implemented in the Express Version of the software, including the following:

• Open the CommCell Console and/or view the Express Quick Start Guide at the end of software installation
• Easy-to-use Wizards are available from the EZ Operations Wizard, which can be used to:
  • configure libraries (backup targets), tape/optical devices, and tape rotation
  • create schedules and alerts
  • choose backup options, browse options, file overwrite options, and restore destinations
  • backup and restore data
• Allowing ER backups to share tapes with regular data for better use of tapes in small environments

How to Display the EZ Operation Window

You can access the EZ Operations Wizard in the following ways:

• From the CommCell Console, click the EZ Operations Wizard button located on the Toolbar.

  OR

• From the CommCell Console, click Tools, click Control Panel, then double-click EZ Operation Window.

The EZ Operations Wizard is displayed.
