Configuring OFM Backup Inactivity
The software supports the use of St. Bernard’s Open File Manager™ (OFM) to work with the Windows File System iDataAgent and the NetWare File System iDataAgents. The following sections describe how to configure the software in such a setup.
The OFM.NLM must be dated June 28, 1999 or later. You can get the latest version from the St. Bernard website at http: //www.stbernard.com. (See the St. Bernard’s documentation for the most complete and up-to-date information on OFM.)
To configure:
|
The following information is OFM-specific and is subject to change. The following instructions are from the 8.1 version of OFM. |
|
A <volume name>\SYSTEM\OFM\CACHE directory and path is created for each NetWare Legacy Volume that resides on the server. A subclient filter must be created for each one. |
The Windows File System iDataAgents does not have any specific requirements for the OFM version.
To configure:
Select the Install Directory and check Include Subdirectories and then click OK.
If a message is displayed indicating that information will be saved when the backup is complete, you can either wait for OFM synchronization to time-out (default is 120 minutes) or restart the Services.
|
It is recommended that you not use OFM with other snap drivers. |
If you are going to run more than one backup per day, the time between the end of one backup and the start of the next backup should exceed the OFM Backup Inactivity Timeout (BIT) period. Otherwise, any open files that have been synchronized by OFM will be backed up in the same state as the first backup.
By allowing OFM to unsynchronize between backups, you will be able to back up the changes that have occurred in the open file since the previous backup. To set the OFM Backup Inactivity Timeout:
In the OFM, open the Properties dialog box for the NetWare server in which the NetWare File System iDataAgent is installed by right-clicking the server name.
Click the General tab.
|
The default Backup Inactivity Timeout value is 120 minutes. |
Change the Backup Inactivity Timeout (BIT) value to a value that is less than the backup interval (time between backups) and click OK. For example, if the backup interval is two hours, the Backup Inactivity Timeout value must be less than two hours, or it will interfere with the next backup.
