New Features - SRM SharePoint Agent

Storage Resource Management

• Storage Resource Management (SRM), previously known as QSM, is now merged with Calypso software. SRM collects statistical data using the SRM Agent software and summarizes them to generate a wide range of reports on Calypso storage resources. For more see Overview - Storage Resource Management (SRM). 

This feature/product/platform requires a special software installation package. Contact your software provider to obtain this package.

• All Agents and features supported in QSM are supported in SRM. QSM features and operations that were accessible from the QSM console are now accessible from the CommCell Console.

  On account of the merge, the SRM components now provide the following new features:

  • SRM Disaster Recovery allows you to backup and restore SRM metadata and Reporting Services in both clustered and non-clustered environments.
  • Name Management capabilities are now available for SRM components.

  • SRM components now support IPV6 protocol in non-cluster environments. See Internet Protocols for more details.

  • It is now possible to view, save, and send SRM log files. See Log Files for more details.
  • SRM User Interface and SRM Reports are now available in several languages. See Languages - Support for supported languages.
  • Property Sheet Locking is now available for SRM components.

  On account of the merge, the following SRM features provide improved accessibility and enhanced functionalities:

  • SRM data collection operations can now be scheduled using SRM Data Collection Schedule Policy. See SRM Data Collection Schedule Policy for more information.
  • Multiple reports can be grouped and scheduled to be executed in a single schedule, by creating a schedule policy for SRM Reports. See SRM Reports Schedule Policy for more information.
  • Activity Control feature allows you to enable or disable operations including scheduled operations.
  • Alerts can be used to inform you of conditions that you may have otherwise not been aware of. See Alerts and Monitoring for more details.
  • Provides option to check CommCell Readiness.
  • Provides enhanced firewall configuration options to secure networks by acting as a barrier for unauthorized outside access to the network. See Firewall Considerations for more details.
  • Job Controller allows you to manage and monitor SRM data management jobs. See Job Management for more details.
  • SRM licensing now follows the Calypso License Administration.
  • Operation Window feature allows you to define operational rules for data protection jobs, such as to enabling/disabling specific operations in a predetermined time.
  • SRM data on the storage media can now be managed using the Data Aging feature.
  • SRM now provides User Administration and Security.
  • User Preferences can be set from the Control Panel options.
  • OEM versions of SRM software are now available.
  • CommCell Explorer can be used for SRM data management.
  • SRM Reporting Server credentials are now configured from the Control Panel. See Configure Reporting Server Credentials for instructions.
  • You can now use CommCell Console to assign billable entities and cost categories for SRM. For more information, see Cost Analysis.
  • When registering a CommCell with the CommNet Server, you can now opt to collect the Primary Storage Data if you have an SRM Server installed on your CommServe computer. This enables the CommNet Server to retrieve the corresponding SRM data from the CommCell as per the data collection policy for reporting purposes.

Job Management

• Job restartability feature is now available in SRM Windows File System Agent, SRM SharePoint Agent, SRM Exchange Agent, and SRM NAS Agent. See Restarting Jobs for more information.
