Memory

1 GB RAM minimum required; 2 GB RAM recommended

Hard Disk

In addition to CommServe requirements, the following space is required for SRM Server:

600 MB of local disk space for the SRM Server software.

600 MB of local disk space for the SRM database. (This is a prerequisite for installing and upgrading the SRM Server.)

1.8 GB of local disk space for the SRM  database growth.

In time, you may need to provide additional space (several GB) to allow for growth in the SRM  Server metadata. The size of the metadata depends on the number of computers, the data collection policies and database aging policies implemented in the SRM  system.

Peripherals

DVD-ROM drive

Network Interface Card

Miscellaneous

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition (with Service Pack 2) will be automatically installed while installing the software. Later versions of the Service Pack, if available, are also supported.(* See Disclaimer below.)

In a clustered environment, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition with the appropriate service pack and Reporting Services with Service Pack 2 must be installed and clustered prior to installing a SRM  Server. Also note that Reporting Services must be configured on all physical nodes in the cluster prior to installing the SRM  server.

Microsoft SQL Reporting Services 2005 with Service Pack 2 will be automatically installed while installing the SRM Server software.

SRM Server is supported on Enterprise version and not on Express versions.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package is automatically installed. Note that Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package can co-exist with other versions of this software.

On Windows Server 2003

Prior to installing SRM Server the following software components must also be installed on Windows Server 2003:

  • .NetFramework 2.0 (2.0.50727)
  • Asp.Net
  • IIS

If necessary, you can install the .NET Framework from the following location in the Windows and NetWare disc:

\intel32\bin\dotnetframework\2.0

For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 platforms, .NET Framework 1.1 is built into the operating system and comes with ASP.NET. However, ASP.NET is not added as a component by default. You must add ASP.NET as a component prior to the SRM Server installation. If ASP.NET is not added as a component, the SRM Server installation will fail.

You can add ASP.NET as you would any other component by using the Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components utility with the ASP.NET option checked in the Application Server | Details dialog box.

Additionally, ensure that FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions is not checked in the Internet Information Services (IIS) | Details dialog box.

Notes on SRM Server Installation

The SRM Server cannot be installed on a domain controller.

For clustered environments, use an account with administrator privileges (i.e., a member of the Administrator local group of the computer or domain).

SQL Server Reporting Services for SRM Server on Windows 2008

To successfully install the Reporting Services on a Windows 2008 computer:

  1. Ensure IIS settings are correct:
  2. Verify User  Access Control (UAC) settings. See User Access Control in Windows 2008 and Viewing SRM Reports.
