Q-Factor Setup

Use this dialog box to set up the CommCell Q-Factor configuration by:

• Setting an Admissible Q-Factor.
• Assigning relative weights for the overall short-term and long-term coverage as a percentage, summing up to 100%.
• Selecting the short term and long term data protection coverage categories to be considered in the Q-Factor calculation.
• Assigning the minimum occurrence for data protection coverage for each applicable short term and long term coverage category.
• Assigning a relative priority on a scale of 1 to 9 to be used in determining its relative weight for consideration, for each applicable short term and long term coverage category.

Inherit From The Software (CommCell level only)

If selected, the Q-Factor configuration for the CommNet Server will be used in computing the Q-Factor for a CommCell.

If cleared, a unique Q-Factor configuration can be setup for a CommCell from this dialog box.

Admissible Q-Factor

Sets the benchmark level for all Q-Factor calculations. Adequate data protection coverage is determined by comparing actual calculations against this benchmark.

Coverage Category Weights

Use the slider to determine the relative weight that each short term and long term coverage category will have in the Q-Factor calculation. The software automatically calculates weight percentages for each category based on the position of the slider.

Short Term Coverage Category

• At least one DP operation in the last <n> Day(s)

  Allows you to specify the minimum number of days that at least one data protection operation must have occurred, and a relative priority.

• At least one full DP operation in the last <n> Day(s)

  Allows you to specify the minimum number of days that at least one full data protection operation must have occurred, and a relative priority.

• More than one full DP operation in the last <n> Day(s)

  This ensures that multiple data protection cycles (full, incremental, or differential) have occurred in order to provide data redundancy.

• No DP failure in the last <n> Day(s)

  Considering the robustness of your data protection infrastructure such as your network, hardware, and storage resources, this option allows you to specify the minimum number of days where no data protection failure has occurred, and a relative priority.

Long Term Coverage Category

• At least one full DP per <week> during the last <n> Week(s)

  Allows you to specify the minimum number of weeks that at least one full data protection operation per week must have occurred, and a relative priority.

• At least one full DP per <month> during the last <n> Month(s)

  Allows you to specify the minimum number of months that at least one full data protection operation per month must have occurred, and a relative priority.

• At least one full DP per <year> during the last <n> Year(s)

  Allows you to specify the minimum number of years that at least one full data protection operation per year must have occurred, and a relative priority.
