Uninstall Components from a NetWare Computer

Click on a link below to go to a specific section of the component uninstallation:

Overview

The following NetWare components may be uninstalled using this procedure in clustered and non-clustered environments:
  • NetWare File System iDataAgent software
  • NetWare MediaAgent software
  • NDS iDataAgent software Novell Directory Services
  • Novell GroupWise iDataAgent software
  • File Archiver for NetWare Agent software

Before You Begin

Consider the following before you uninstall a component from your computer:
  • If components were not installed in the default location, you will have to manually delete the directory/folders once the uninstall is complete.

  • Verify that no jobs are in progress or scheduled to occur while the software is being uninstalled. If jobs are scheduled, either perform the uninstall at another time or disable the jobs on the client computer using the CommCell Console.

  • Verify that the CommServe is running.

Consider the following for clustered uninstalls:

  • Verify that the cluster is set to its original state (i.e., the active and passive nodes are in the same state of ownership for their disk groups as they were during installation).

  • All virtual servers in a cluster must be uninstalled before any physical server in the cluster can be uninstalled.

Consider the following for MediaAgent uninstalls:

  • Verify that at least four network drives are available in the Novell Client computer from which the MediaAgent is installed.
  • Deconfigure the libraries and drives before uninstalling the NetWare MediaAgent. For information on deconfiguring libraries and drives, see Deconfiguring Libraries and Drives.

Uninstall Procedure

Follow this procedure to uninstall a component from a NetWare computer in both clustered and non-clustered environments:
1. Read the Before You Begin section before continuing with the uninstall procedure.
2. Log on as a user with Supervisor rights or use an account that has Read/Write/Modify/Erase/Create/File Scan rights to the SYS:SYSTEM directory.
3. Place the component software installation disc for the Windows platform into the Novell client computer disc drive or a mapped disc drive on another computer. The installation menu appears after a few seconds.

If the installation menu does not appear:

a) Click Start on the Windows task bar, and then click Run.

b) Browse to the installation disc drive, right-click Setup.exe and then click Open.

In the language screen, click the down arrow, select the desired language from the pull-down list, and then click Next to continue.

4. This screen asks where you want to install/uninstall the software. Click Install/Uninstall Calypso on a NetWare Server.
5. Click Next to continue.
6. Select Uninstall and click Next to continue.
7. Select the NetWare server from which you want to uninstall the component, then click Next to continue.

NOTES

  • If you are not logged on to the selected server, the NetWare Login dialog box appears. To uninstall software from that server, you must log on as a user with supervisor rights.
  • For clustered environments:
    • If you select a physical server while a virtual server in the same cluster still has components installed, you will receive a warning message.

8. Select the software module(s) that you want to remove and then click Next to continue.

NOTES

  • Should you receive a message stating “failed to find if jobs are running”, check your services and your network. You can elect to proceed with the uninstall, and later perform a Deconfigure.

9. Click Yes to continue.
10. Click Yes to uninstall another component or click No to exit the uninstall program.

This completes the software uninstall procedure.
