Register a New Client Wizard

Use this Wizard to register a new client that has, or will have, the Agent or MediaAgent software installed using Decoupled Install. For more information, see Decoupled Install in Books Online.

Connect to a client and get its configuration

Select to retrieve the configuration information directly from the computer that has the Agent or MediaAgent software pre-installed.

• Host Name

  The full interface name of the computer that has the Agent or MediaAgent software pre-installed.

• CVD port on client

  Specify the network port number specified on the client, during the Decoupled install of the software, for communications with the CommServe.

Get client configuration from an input file on CommServe

Select to retrieve the configuration information from an XML input file on the CommServe, rather than from the remote computer. This can be used to pre-configure a Client or MediaAgent even before the Decoupled install of software on the remote computer.

• Path

  The full path and name of the XML input file on the shared drive.

• Browse

  Click to browse and select the XML input file.

Optional Data

Overrides the Client Name

Select to specify a Client name different from the one specified in the XML input file.

• Client Name

  The name of the Client or MediaAgent to display in the CommCell Browser.

Overrides the Host Name

Select to specify a Host name different from the one specified in the XML input file.

• Host Name

  The full interface name of the computer that has the Agent or MediaAgent software pre-installed.
