Recovery Director Subclient Configuration

Configure

Click after selecting an agent from the list, to display the Subclient Properties for that agent.

Apply

Click to save the changes made to the Subclient Properties.

General tab

Use this tab to add, modify or view general information on the selected Subclient.

Subclient Name

Displays the name of this Subclient. You can use this space to enter or modify the name of the subclient.

QR Policy

List of available QR Policies.

Use Source Host as the Default Import Host

This option is enabled for VSS hardware snapshots, allowing a choice of Import Hosts.

Default Import Host

Select a Host from the list, if the Source Host will not be used as the Import Host.

Disable Incremental update of QR Volumes

When selected, the subclient will not be incrementally updated. This is for use when configuring subclients with overlapping content.

Select Software Compression

Specifies whether software compression is enabled or disabled when the selected QR Policy is configured to use a LAN copy manager. Data will not be compressed when using a Software or Hardware copy manager, even if it is selected.

Compression ON

Specifies that software compression of data will be used on this subclient.

Compression OFF

Specifies that software compression of data will not be used on this subclient.

Content tab

Use this tab to define the contents of a new subclient or to change the content of an existing subclient. Volume(s) or data paths included in subclient content are backed up by the subclient.

Backup Host

Use this space to enter or change the name of the backup host that is attached to the BCV that you want to back up.

Contents of Subclient

Displays a list of volume(s) or primary host data paths and corresponding backup host data paths included as content for this subclient. For the Image Level ProxyHost iDataAgent, if multiple volumes are included in the contents of this subclient, you can only perform a Volume Level Restore, not a File Level Restore.

Add

Click to add content to this subclient.

Edit

Click to edit the selected subclient entry.

Delete

Click to delete the selected entry from the Contents of subclient list.

Filters tab

Use this tab to add, modify or view the data protection or discovery filter on the selected subclient.

Exclude these files/folders/patterns

Displays entries that will be excluded from data protection operations for this subclient.

Except for these files/folders

Displays entries that will be included in data protection operations for this subclient.

Add

Click to manually add an entry to be included in, or excluded from, data protection operations for this subclient.

Browse

Click to browse for an entry to be included in, or excluded from, data protection operations for this subclient.

Delete

Click to delete a selected filter entry.

Pre/Post Process tab

Use this tab to add, modify or view Pre/Post processes for the selected subclient.

Pre Backup/Scan/Copy/Snap process

Displays the name/path of the process that you want to run before the respective phase. You can use this space to enter a process that will execute before this phase on the subclient, or you can use the Browse button to search for and select the name/path of the process. The system allows the use of spaces in the name/path, provided they begin with an opening quotation mark and end with a closing quotation mark.

Post Backup/Scan/Copy/Snap process

Displays the name/path of the process that you want to run after the respective phase. You can use this space to enter a process that will execute after this phase on the subclient, or you can use the Browse button to search for and select the name/path of the process. The system allows the use of spaces in the name/path, provided they begin with an opening quotation mark and end with a closing quotation mark.

Run Post Backup/Scan/Copy/Snap Process for all attempts / even if snap phase fails

Specifies whether this process will execute for all attempts to run the phase (except in cases where the user suspends/stops the job during that phase or when the phase is interrupted due to Operation Window rules). Selecting this option will execute the specified process for attempts to run the phase that are successful, failed, killed or interrupted due to a media reservation issue. Otherwise, when the checkbox is cleared the specified process will only execute for a successful run of the phase.

On Primary Host / Backup Host / MediaAgent

Specifies the location of the batch file or shell script that you want to execute, either on the Primary Host (production server), Backup Host, or MediaAgent.

Run As

Displays either the Local System Account, or for added security, another account as having permission to run these commands.

Change

Click to add or modify the account that has permission to run these commands.

Browse

Click to search for and select the Pre/Post Process.

Storage Device (Data Storage Policy) tab

Use this tab to select or view storage policy settings on the selected subclient.

Storage Policy

Displays the storage policy to which this subclient is currently associated. To associate a storage policy to a new subclient or to change the storage policy associated with an existing subclient, click one in the list.

Show Data Paths

Click to view or modify the details of the data paths associated with the primary storage policy copy of the selected storage policy.

Storage Device (Software Compression) tab

Use this tab to enable or disable software compression, and define the number of network agents.

Software Compression

Indicates whether software compression for the subclient or instance is enabled or disabled, and if enabled whether it is performed on the client or MediaAgent computer.

On Client

Select to enable software compression on the client computer.

On MediaAgent

Select to enable software compression on the MediaAgent computer.

Off

Select to disable software compression.

Network Agents

Use this option to define the number of threads/processes a client uses to transfer data over a network.

On non-UNIX computers, the default value is 2 and a maximum of 4 can be established if necessary. On UNIX computers the default value is 1 and a maximum of 2 can be established if necessary.

Activity Control tab

Use this tab to enable or disable data protection operations on the selected subclient.

Enable Backup

Specifies whether backups will occur from this subclient.

If cleared:

(Job states are indicated in the Job Controller.)

Generic Snap Scripts tab

Use this tab to configure the QR Agent to utilize user-defined batch files or shell scripts.

Create Script Pathname

The path of the user-created batch file or shell script to initialize the hardware snapshot, manage the BCV pair, and mount the snapshot.

Delete Script Pathname

The path of the user-created batch file or shell script to unmount the snapshot and delete the BCV pair.

Recover Script Pathname

The path of the user-created batch file or shell script to quiesce/unquiesce the application, or launch a hardware-based recovery.

Execution Host

The host where the user-created batch files or shell scripts will be run.

Change

Click to open the Change User Account dialog box to add or modify the account that has permission to run these commands.
