Select from the following options:
Use this dialog box to configure the Deduplication Database or the Deduplication Store.
If you are using global deduplication, this tab will be disabled. The store information is configured on the Global Deduplication Copy instead.
Deduplication Store Name
Displays the name of the Deduplication Database Store. When you create a new Deduplication Database Store, use the space to type the name of the database.
Total size of Application data
Displays the size of application data that is backed up for the active deduplication store.
Total data size on disk
Displays the total amount of space used by the deduplication store on the disk. Note that this value refers to the amount of data being managed by the deduplication store, not the total amount of disk space being used.
Total data size on media
Displays the size of backup data on the media for the active deduplication store. This is the size of data on the media after deduplication and data compression (if enabled.)
Creation time of this store
The date and time in which the currently active deduplication store was created.
Deduplication Store Access Path
The following information is displayed for each Deduplication Database configured for the Storage Policy Copy.
Displays the name of the MediaAgent in which the Deduplication Store access path is configured.
Displays the path used to access deduplication store.
Indicates whether the access path is enabled in the storage policy copy.
Change Host...
Provide the details in the Deduplication Store Access Path dialog box.
Delete
Click to delete the selected access path.
Properties
Click to view or change the existing path for the selected access path.
Deduplication Store Creation
Use the following options to configure the creation of new deduplication store.
Option to create a new deduplication store based on time interval in days. Select the option and provide the interval in number of days.
Option to create a new deduplication store based on the magnetic disk volume. Select the option and provide the volume in TB.
Option to create a new deduplication store every month based on time interval in months. Select this option and provide the interval in months and a start date for store creation.
You can create a new store with one of the following conditions:
Total Number of Stores
Displays the total number of deduplication stores created for this copy.
Total size of Application Data across all the stores
Displays the total size of application data backed for the copy across all deduplication stores.
Total Data Size on Disk for all the stores
Displays the total size of backup data stored on the media after deduplication for the copy across all deduplication stores.
Total Data Size for all the stores
Displays the total size of backup data after deduplication for the copy across all deduplication stores.
Use this dialog box to configure the silo storage options.
If you are using global deduplication, this tab will be disabled. The Silo Storage options are configured on the Global Deduplication Copy instead.
Enable Backup of Deduplicated Data
Select this option to backup the deduplicated data from disk to tape media.
Archive Sealed DDB
Select this option to automatically move the sealed deduplication store to tape along with the deduplicated data. Archiving the deduplication store frees up disk space by moving the sealed store to Silo Storage.
Number of Silos to be kept in cache
Specify the number of recently moved silos to be maintained in the local system cache.
Enable Space Management
Option to enable Silo space management on the disk media.
Number of Silo streams
Select the number of dedicated data streams for silo backup operations. The default value is set to 1.
Amount of Data Size Moved
Displays the amount of data that is moved to the Silo Storage from the currently active silo.
Amount of Data Size to be Moved
Displays the amount of data to be moved to the Silo Storage from the currently active silo.
Enable Multiplexing
Option to enable multiplexing for silo operations. If selected, multiple data streams of data protection operations to the same media, can be run concurrently. Multiplexing is supported for silo data protection operations.
Select how many data streams (from this storage policy) are to be backed up concurrently to the same media.
Select MediaAgent for Silo Restores
Allows you to select the source MediaAgent that must be used to perform the silo restore. As this MediaAgent will be used to access the tape library containing the Silo storage media, ensure to select a MediaAgent that has access to the appropriate Silo storage media.
Select Destination client for Silo Restores
Allows you to select the destination MediaAgent to which the silo disk volume must be restored. Ensure to select a MediaAgent that has access to the silo-enabled disk. The restore process will start on this MediaAgent.
Add Data Path for Silo
Click Add Data Path to add a data path for silo storage. Select a data path from the Copy Data Path Candidates dialog box.
Use this dialog box to configure deduplication store settings.
If you are using global deduplication, this tab will be disabled. The deduplication settings are set on the Global Deduplication Copy instead.
Minimum Free Space (MB)
Specifies the total amount of free space that must be available at all times in the volume in which the Deduplication Store is configured. If necessary, use the space to modify the amount of minimum free space.
Free Space Warning (MB)
Specifies the amount of free space in the volume in which deduplication store is configured at which a warning must be generated. If the amount of free space falls below the specified amount, the system generates an event message and generates the MediaAgents (Disk Space Low) alert, if configured.
Do not Deduplicate against objects older than
Specifies the minimum period of time that a file (or object) is used as the primary object for any new secondary object. Setting a period will ensure that very old objects are not allowed as the 'origin' data for newer data protection jobs that are deduplicated. If necessary, use the space to modify the age of the primary file.
Enable software compression with Deduplication
Select this option to enable software compression on the storage policy copy when performing deduplication.
Use Store Priming option with Source-Side clients
Select this option if you wish to refer previously sealed stores to identify and use existing data blocks to prime the baseline for the current store. When clients with source-side deduplication connect to the MediaAgent over a WAN, using this option minimizes the data transfer payload. Note that this option might not beneficial if the client exists at the data center or the performance throughput is critical.
Store Availability Option
Use this section to provide options for managing the deduplication store.
Select this option if you wish to automatically failover to a new store in case the current store is corrupt and unavailable for access.
Select this option if you wish to recover the deduplication store in case the current store is corrupt and unavailable for access.
Select this option if you wish to recover the store automatically.
Select this option if you wish to recover the store on demand. If you select this option, you will have to manually initiate the store recovery process from the CommCell Console. See Books Online, Deduplication chapter for details.
Create recovery points every ... hour(s)
Provide the interval in which a recovery point must be created for the store. This is the point to which the store will be recovered. The default value is set to 8 hours.
Deduplication Settings
Displays the details of deduplication settings. The deduplication details can be configured at the storage policy properties.
Specifies the block size used for block level deduplication. This value is displayed for block level deduplication only.
Use this section to provide advanced deduplication options.
Active
Indicates whether deduplication is currently active. Clear this option to temporarily suspend deduplication.
Deduplication Options
Select options to perform deduplication operations in DASH (Deduplication Accelerated by Streaming Hash) mode. In this mode, hash signatures generated for data segments are effectively used to accelerate data transfer.
Optimizes disk operation by using existing data signatures to identify the backup data. Use this option to reduce signature processing on the source computer.
Optimizes network usage by performing data deduplication on the source. Use this option for high latency network connections.
