Billing Association Report

This report shows the association of cell objects and storage entities to the billable entities and cost categories that are defined in the CommNet domain. More specifically, this report can be filtered to show several different associations.

Costing Based

Associations can be shown based on either the Billable Entity or the Cost Category.

• Billable Entity based - A list of billable entities and the CommCell objects with which they are associated. Use this to review the Cell objects for which a particular department is billed.
• Cost Category based - A list of cost categories identified by the type of CommCell secondary storage resources and/or a primary storage resources with which they are associated. Use this to review the storage resources to which a particular Cost Category has been assigned. Note the following:
  • CommCell cost categories that are automatically assigned to drive pools are listed in the report as Implicit. If a user has changed this automatic association, or must associate the storage entity manually (as the case with disk libraries), the cost category is listed as Explicit. Note that cost categories cannot be automatically assigned to disk libraries, this must be done manually from a CommCell Console.
  • Cost categories associated with an SRM Exchange subclient only calculates the data size information from the Exchange mailboxes and public folders; calculations do not include the transaction logs. In previous releases, cost categories were associated with the storage groups where the transaction logs were calculated in the total space occupied. Therefore, take note that calculations for Billing Charge Back reports would differ for the upgraded clients.

Cell Based

Associations can be shown based on either the Client or the Storage Resource. This could be used, for instance, to see which department is being billed for a particular storage entity.

• Client Based - A list of Clients, CommCell objects, showing the billable entities that are associated with each object. Use this to review which department is billed for each object.
• Storage Resource Based - A list of Cells showing the CommCell secondary storage resources and/or a primary storage resources within each Cell, and the associated cost category for each. Use this to review which cost category is associated with each storage resource or type of storage resource.
• Additional Filters - You can choose to display only those objects or storage resources that are not associated with any billable entity or cost category, only those that are associated, or both.
