Primary Storage Data Growth Report

This report shows the trend of data growth for the following over a specified time range:

It does this by reporting multiple point-in-time values for the actual space used, displaying this in a chart format; thus you can quickly identify large increases and decreases in data growth across all of your CommCell(s) containing SRM components - at a glance, reviewing both the chart showing the trend as well as an actual measure of space used. This report can be useful, for instance, when planning migration archiving operations, by quickly revealing trends, and then identifying precisely where data growth is taking place in your primary storage.

First, run this report for Daily results, then Weekly, and finally Monthly. This will help you to spot trends, and is useful for the following:

When you spot a data growth trend for a CommCell with SRM components or Client that bears further examination, run the report again, focusing on the Agents or on specific objects reported by that Agent, to see where the data growth is actually taking place.

Predicted data growth values are interpolated from the actual data growth values over a period of days called the repetition pattern. For example, if you specify seven days, the data growth predictor will use the growth pattern from the last seven days to predict the future data growth. Predicted values, therefore, are more accurate when past trends in data growth activity within the selected time range are normal and indicative of expected data growth activity. The repetition pattern and the number of days predicted is set in the Time Range Selection Filter. Also, note that the data growth history for the current day/week/month/year (determined by your selection) is not considered by data prediction. The last full day/week/month/year is used for the prediction.

NOTE

If this report is run on an Exchange subclient with public folder data content, data size figures are rounded to the nearest tenth, e.g., 0.1 will be represented as 0.0.
