To change the data path of a Storage Policy Copy:

  1. Right click a storage policy copy for which you want to change the data path , click All Tasks and click Change Data Path.
  2. The Change Data Path dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click OK to change the data path.

Migrate a Disk Library

Required Capability: See Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To perform a disk library migration from one MediaAgent to another MediaAgent:

  1. Right-click the disk library that you want to migrate to another MediaAgent and click Migrate Disk Library.
  2. A message is displayed indicating that this operation migrates the disk library to another MediaAgent. Click OK.
  3. The Select MediaAgent dialog box is displayed. This dialog box displays the current MediaAgent that the disk library is associated with and allows you to select a MediaAgent to migrate to. From the drop-down list, select the MediaAgent you want to migrate to and click OK.
  4. The disk library will now be associated with the selected MediaAgent. To view the disk library properties to verify successful migration, right click on the disk library where you want to view the properties, and click Properties.

    The MediaAgent is displayed on the General tab.

  5. Make sure that the mount path associated with the disk library, points to valid path. (See Add or Modify Mount Paths for step-by-step instructions.)

Backup Using a Specific Library, MediaAgent, Drive Pool, and Drive

Use the following procedure to change the data path for a backup operation.

Before You Begin

Required Capability: See Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To backup data using a specific Library, MediaAgent, Drive Pool, and Drive:

  1. select one of the following:
  2. If you chose a level higher than subclient (i.e., backup set, etc.), you are prompted to confirm that you want to back up all the subclients below that level/node. Click Yes.
  3. From the Backup Options dialog box, select the appropriate options.
  4. Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced Backup Options dialog box. Select the desired options.
  5. From the Advanced Backup Options (Data Path) tab, select the Library and MediaAgent that you wish to perform the backup. For tape/optical libraries, select the Drive Pool and Drive.
    Note that the Library, MediaAgent, Drive Pool, and Drive specified here are applicable for this job only.
  6. Optionally, you can select additional backup options in the Advanced Backup Options dialog box.
  7. Click OK.
  8. From the Job Initiation area, select Run Immediately and then click OK. When the backup has completed, Job Controller displays Completed.

Schedule a Backup Using a Specific Library, MediaAgent, Drive Pool, and Drive

Use the following procedure to change the data path for a backup operation.

To backup data using a specific Library, MediaAgent, Drive Pool, and Drive:

  1. select one of the following:

  6. From the Advanced Backup Options (Data Path) tab, select the MediaAgent and Library that you wish to perform the backup. For tape/optical libraries, select the Drive Pool and the Drive.
    Note that the Library, MediaAgent, Drive Pool, and Drive specified here are applicable for this job schedule only.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK to save your changes. Your backup operation will execute according to the specified schedule.

Change the Data Path of a Schedule from a Schedule Policy

Before You Begin

To modify the data path of a schedule in the schedule policy:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select the Schedule Policies node, right-click the schedule policy, and then click Properties.
  2. From the General tab of the Schedule Policy Details dialog box, select a schedule from the schedules pane and click Edit.
  3. From the Schedule Details dialog box, select Job Summary tab and Job Options tab within. Click Advanced to open the Advanced Backup Options dialog box.
  4. From the Advanced Backup Options (Data Path) tab, change the data path by selecting the desired MediaAgent, Library or Drive Pool.
    Ensure that MediaAgent, library, or Drive Pool specified is available in all the storage policies associated with the schedule.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click OK to save your changes. Your backup operation will execute according to the specified schedule.
