Overview

The mail server must be configured from the Control Panel in order to send Alerts, Log Files, and Reports as an e-mail message from the CommCell Console.

Configure an Internal Mail Server

Use the following procedure to configure an internal e-mail server (Exchange, Lotus Notes, etc.) to send e-mails.

1. From the toolbar in the CommCell Console, click Control Panel.
2. Double-click E-Mail & IIS Configuration.
3. In the Mail Server box, enter the name of the mail server. E.g., smtp.mailservername.com
4. Optionally, add the following information:
  • Mail Server Port (defaults to 25)
  • Mail Server size limit
  • Sender Name
5. In the Senders Address box, enter a valid e-mail address.
6. To send a test message, click the Test Mail button.
7. Click OK to save the information, when finished.
If you changed the default SMTP port number or disabled/enabled the use of SSL, make sure to restart the Server Event Manager (EvMgrS) service in the CommServe computer. See Services - How-To for instructions on viewing and controlling services.

Configure an External Mail Server

Use the following procedure to configure an external e-mail server (Gmail, Yahoo, ISP-provided SMTP, etc.) to send e-mails.

1. From the toolbar in the CommCell Console, click Control Panel.
2. Double-click E-Mail & IIS Configuration.
3. In the Mail Server box, enter the name of the mail server. E.g., smtp.gmail.com
4. Click the Use Authentication checkbox. The associated boxes are enabled.
5. In the User Name box, type a valid name recognized by the specified mail server.
6. Type and confirm the password associated with the user name.
7. Click the Enable SSL checkbox to enable Secure Socket Layers to access the mail server.
8. To send a test message, click the Test Mail button.
9. Click OK to save the information, when finished.
