Files are kept for 30 days
after they are deselected from the backup, or deleted from the system.
Previous versions of files
are available for 30 days as well. At
times, versions older than 30 days may be available, however they will
eventually expire.
YES. All computers owners will receive (via the email address you provided) a Job Summary report which includes history of each job run within that last 7 days.
In addition, Alerts will be defined to send you an email for all restore operations and configuration changes which occur for you computer.
YES. This can be
accomplished using the pass-phrase feature.
NOTES:
1.
With pass-phrase protection, the cloud
administrator will not be able to access your data. BE SURE to remember the
pass-phrase and store it in a secure location.
2.
With pass-phrase enabled, the file download
feature from the Web Console is not supported. Use the RESTORE option
instead. Remember that in order to
restore from the Web Console, you MUST export your pass-phrase to your computer
BEFORE attempting to restore data (as described below).

pass-phrase signifies loss of all data previously protected

1. Open
a command prompt window by right clicking and
choosing “Run as administrator”
and change to the Simpana Base folder by running the
following command:
a. cd C:\Program Files\YOUR_COMPANY\Simpana\Base
2. Log
in by running “qlogin” followed by your Simpana user name and password.
3. Execute
the following command. Substitute [YOUR_COMPUTER_NAME]
with the name of your computer as registered with Simpana.
a.
qoperation setencryptionprops -c [YOUR_COMPUTER_NAME]
-encryptdata y -mediaaccess
passphrase -restoreaccess passphrase
-passphrase y
NOTE: You MUST supply the computer name in the same
case as when you installed it. If you don’t remember how it was, you can look
at the “computer field” on the Service Control Manager.
4. You
will be prompted to supply a pass-phrase which will be required when restoring
data.
5. Starting
with your next backup data will be encrypted and require the pass-phrase in
case restore is needed.
1. Open
a command prompt window and navigate to the Simpana
Base folder:
a. Type: cd
C:\Program Files\YOUR_COMPANY\Simpana\Base
[ENTER]
b. Type: passphrasetool.exe [ENTER]
c. Follow
the program prompts and choose option 3 to export the pass-phrase to a file.
NOTE:
Depending on your UAC settings you may need to provide Administrator password
to run the above utility.
If
you prefer to not keep the pass-phrase on your hard drive when you are NOT
restoring data, you can run the utility again and choose the option to delete
the pass-phrase file.

a. cd /opt/simpana\Base
2. Log
in by running “./qlogin”
followed by your Simpana user name and password.
