Error Acquiring Lock on Topology Manager

When restoring a SharePoint database or performing a full system restore and it fails, generating one of these errors:

Then you need to deselect the If topology manager is locked during backup/restore, force its release option in the General tab of the Agent Properties dialog box. The error could occur if the SharePoint farm is not in a consistent state before restoring.

Restored WSS Web Application Content Database Cannot Connect to the Configuration Database

For SharePoint 2010:

You successfully restored a WSS Web Application Content Database, but when you try to access the restored database, the following error generates: Cannot connect to the configuration database. This happens when the Application Pool for the restored Web Application has a NetworkService account.

To resolve this:

  1. Open IIS Manager.
  2. Under Web Site, select the restored Web Application.
  3. Stop the Web Site.
  4. Select a different Application Pool with Managed Account credentials.
  5. Start the Web Site.

"Error setting '2' WebPart(s) in file *.aspx"

To prevent "Error setting '2' WebPart(s) in file *.aspx", deselect WebMetaDataFiles if restoring with option "Unconditional overwrite" over a site that already contains the Web Parts being restored.
