Restore a Single GroupWise User Account and Mailbox (GroupWise iDataAgent)


Restore NetWare Data to a Protected Directory

Before you Begin:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the File System icon of the client computer whose System Specific Info you want to restore, click All Tasks and then click Browse Default Backup Set.
  2. Continue with the Browse and Restore procedure.
  3. When you then reach the File System Restore Options (General) dialog box, select the restore options that you want to use. The Destination folder is what will require the trustee rights.
  4. Click Advanced. From the Advanced Restore Options (General) dialog box, select the Impersonate NetWare User check box and type the User Name (e.g., CN=Admin.O=company) and Password of a NetWare account that has the required trustee rights to the Destination folder listed on the Restore Options dialog box.
  5. Optionally, from the tabs for the Advanced Restore Options dialog box, select the restore options that you want to use.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Optionally, from the tabs for the Restore Options dialog box, select the restore options that you want to use.
  8. If you want to schedule the job, select the Job Initiation tab from the Restore Options dialog box, click Schedule, schedule the job, and then click OK. If you want to run the job now, accept or click Run Immediately in the same tab and then click OK. The progress of the restore job can be monitored using the Job Controller.

Restore NetWare Server Specific Information

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the File System icon of the client computer whose System Specific Info you want to restore, click All Tasks and then click Browse Default Backup Set.
  2. Continue with the Browse and Restore procedure.
  3. When you reach the Browse window, select the Server Specific Info and click Recover All Selected.
  4. When you then reach the File System Restore Options (General) dialog box, you must select a different server.
  5. Optionally, from the tabs for the Advanced Restore Options dialog box, select the restore options that you want to use.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Optionally, from the tabs for Restore Options dialog box, select the restore options that you want to use.
  8. If you want to schedule the job, select the Job Initiation tab from the Restore Options dialog box, click Schedule, schedule the job, and then click OK. If you want to run the job now, accept or click Run Immediately in the same tab and then click OK. The progress of the restore job can be monitored using the Job Controller.

Restore a Single GroupWise User Account and Mailbox

Single user accounts and mailboxes may be restored using ConsoleOne providing all subclients have been successfully backed up using the Novell GroupWise iDataAgent. The following procedures may be used to restore a single GroupWise user account and mailbox.

  1. From the CommCell Console, perform an out-of-place restore of the GroupWise domain to the GroupWise restore area.

    (For step-by-step instructions on performing an out-of-place restore, see Restore Out-of-Place, Cross-Platform, or Cross-Application.)

  2. From the Tools | GroupWise Utilities menu in ConsoleOne, select Recover Deleted Account and follow the on-screen prompts.

    When prompted to select the domain database, navigate to the GroupWise restore area and select the appropriate domain database containing the user account you wish to recover.

  3. ConsoleOne will display a message stating that the user account has been successfully recovered. The user account will be visible in ConsoleOne at the GroupWise System node as well as the Console View of the NDS tree.

  1. From the CommCell Console, perform an out-of-place restore of the GroupWise PostOffice to the GroupWise restore area.

    (For step-by-step instructions on performing an out-of-place restore, see Restore Out-of-Place, Cross-Platform, or Cross-Application.)

  2. From ConsoleOne, select the user account associated with the mailbox you wish to recover.
  3. From the Tools | GroupWise Utilities menu in ConsoleOne, select Backup/Restore Mailbox and follow the on-screen prompts.
  4. Stop and Start the Mail Transfer Agent and Post Office Agent prior to logging in to the restored user's account.
The ConsoleOne options described above are designed for ConsoleOne version 1.3.6.
