Skip Errors and Continue a Restore/Recover/Retrieve Operation

To skip errors and continue during a restore/recover/retrieve operation:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the agent, instance or backup set that contains the data you want to restore, click All Tasks and then click the available Browse command (command names vary by agent).
  2. Run any data recovery operation.
  3. From the agent's Restore/Recover/Retrieve Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab. The Advanced Restore Options dialog box is displayed.
  4. From the General tab, select the Skip Errors and Continue option, as well as any other advanced restore options as desired.
  5. When restoring encrypted data, refer to Data Encryption for comprehensive feature information and procedures for using the Encryption tab of the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.
  6. After completing your selections, you can either start an immediate restore or schedule the restore.

While the job is running, you can right-click the job in the Job Controller and select Detail to view information about the job. After the data has been restored, you will see a job completion message in the Job Controller and Event Viewer.


Enable or Disable the Skip Errors and Continue Option During a Data Recovery Operation

To enable or disable the skip errors and continue option during a data recovery operation:

  1. From the Job Controller, double-click the desired data recovery job. The Restore/Recover/Retrieve Job Details dialog box is displayed.
  2. From the Progress tab, click the Toggle button to enable or disable the skip errors and continue option. The skip errors and continue option will check or uncheck depending on whether the option was previously selected.
  3. Click OK.

You can enable or disable the skip errors and continue option at any point during the data recovery job process.


View Failed Files

Before You Begin:

To view failed files:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the agent, instance or backup set that contains the data you want to view, click View, and then click Job History.
  2. From the Job History window, right-click the job for which you wish to view skipped files, click View Restored Files, and then click Failed Files.

    The Restored Files window is displayed. Files that were skipped during the data recovery operation will be listed as (Failed) in the list of files shown.
