Configurable Properties

The following Subclient properties can be configured to suit the particular Data Collection and cost analysis needs for your organization:

Subclient Name

You can rename a user defined subclient.

Billable Entity

The SRM Cost Analysis feature set allows you to calculate the cost of storage and assign these costs to the appropriate Billable Entity that is using that storage. For more information on Cost Analysis and Billable Entities, see Cost Analysis.

You can assign the subclient as a Billable Entity for cost analysis purposes. For step-by-step instructions, see Assign a Subclient as a Billable Entity.

Content

You can configure the content of user-defined Subclients to be a specific subset of the client data (for example, directories or volumes). Keep in mind that content configuration is not applicable for Default Subclients. However any content that you do not distribute to the user-defined subclients will remain in the default subclient.

Filter

Filters can be configured to allow specified portions of the content to be excluded from the Subclient and supports the use of Regular Expressions (i.e. wildcards). For more information on Filters and Regular Expressions see, Content, Filters, and Regular Expressions.

For step-by-step instructions, see Add a User-Defined Subclient

User Security

You can perform the following functions:

For more information, see User Administration and Security.

Operations

The following operations can be performed. These operations are available as a right click option at the subclient level.

Data Collection

Data Collection is useful for the purpose of generating summaries and reports with current statistics from the client. For more information, see SRM Data Collection.

You can start a Data Collection job at this level. For step-by-step instructions, see Run/Schedule a Data Collection Job for an SRM Instance, Agent or Subclient.

Job History

Job History allows you to view more detailed information about a job once it is completed. For more information see Job History.

You can view the Job History at the agent and subclient level. For step-by-step instructions, see View Job History Details.

Schedules

You can schedule jobs at the subclient level to ensure that jobs are automatically performed on a regular basis without user intervention. Scheduling can be based on the standard Gregorian Calendar or a Custom Calendar. For step-by-step instructions, see Create a Job Schedule.

Folder Size

Folder Size gives graphical representation of the space used by data on the client at the subclient level.

For step-by-step instructions, see View Folder Size.

Operation Window

You can view, modify or delete existing operation rules and add new rules which enable/disable certain operations during a time period you specify, thereby ensuring unexpected, time consuming operations do not disrupt the availability of network bandwidth, data, or storage resources when they are most needed. For step-by-step instructions to add an operation rule, see Add an Operation Rule.
