PrKB15133 : How do the 2011 changes to RHN affect the way a customer manages its entitlements?

Introduced in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1, Subscription Manager lets a customer registers systems and manages subscriptions. Subscription Manager is fully integrated within the Customer Portal; however, a customer can continue to manage your systems in "classic-mode" using the existing functionality within RHN (now called "RHN Classic Subscription Management").

In conjunction with the release of Subscription Manager, the following RHN content is now also accessible within the Customer Portal:

  • RHN software channels, downloads, and packages

  • Errata information

  • RHN Help and documentation

A customer can now access software downloads and errata, manage subscriptions, and view RHN documentation within the Customer Portal, with no need to visit a separate website.

To view a complete list of changes, please refer to the latest release notes published within Red Hat Network documentation.
