Agents


Overview

For most agents that support instances, an instance (referred to as a partition in the Lotus Domino iDataAgents):

The Oracle RAC instance deviates somewhat from this paradigm. (See Overview - Oracle RAC iDataAgent and Instances - Oracle RAC for more information.)

During agent installation (where relevant), some agents establish a default configuration. This default configuration is, in most cases, appropriate to ensure data protection and management of data or volumes on the client computer and should not require any changes. However, you can change this configuration to better suit your needs. Similarly, other agents may require some additional configuration steps after the installation is completed.

Instances - Oracle RAC Instance references one or (by intent) more databases as determined by the inclusion of one or more Oracle agent instances in the Oracle RAC node Subclient Oracle RAC agent is not installed by design. An instance is created as part of the procedure for creating a RAC pseudo-client.
Instances - Virtual Server Instance references the virtual server software residing on the host computer from which the virtual server data is backed up. Backup Set, which references the guest host operating systems residing on the host computer from which the virtual server data is backed up. X
