Browse Data from the Offline Directory Database

Before You Begin

Required Capability: None.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the backup set of the Active Directory iDataAgent on the destination computer that contains the directory database you want to restore.
  2. Click All Tasks and then click Browse Backup Data.
  3. From the Browse Options dialog, select the desired browse options.

    Once all the desired browse options are selected, click OK.

  4. If you would like to compare objects or attributes from different points-in-time in an effort to determine which should be recovered, you can initiate multiple browse operations by repeating steps 1 through 3 in this procedure, keeping each browse instance open while initiating the additional browse operations.

    When you have located the point-in-time from which you want to restore the object(s) or attribute(s), you can then continue with the Restore Data from the Offline Directory Database procedure.


Restore Data from the Offline Directory Database

Before You Begin

Required Capability: None.

  1. Perform a browse operation to locate the desired data using the Browse Data from the Offline Directory Database procedure above.
  2. From the Browse window, Select Objects From the Browse Window for Restore and then click Recover All Selected.
    Individually selected attributes across multiple objects cannot be restored simultaneously. To restore attributes from more than one object, you must restore each object in its entirety. You can, however, restore individually selected child objects across multiple parent objects.
  3. In the Restore Options dialog box, provide the following information:
  4. After completing your selections, you can either start an immediate restore or schedule the restore.

    While the job is running, you can right-click the job in the Job Controller and select Detail to view information on the job. After the data has been restored, you will see a job completion message in the Job Controller and Event Viewer.
