Perform a VBB Full Destructive Restore

Before you begin

Required Capability: See Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To restore data using a VBB-enabled full backup on a Celerra file server:

  1. Create a raw file system (rawfs) on the Celerra file server. Please see your vendor documentation for details.
  2. Begin a Browse and Restore procedure to the last full backup and select the root of a volume.
  3. Run an Out-of-place Restore and specify a path such as /.celerra_vol_1078 where 1078 matches the volume name from the nas_fs-list command for that file system.
Ensure that Direct Access Restore (DAR) restore option is not selected.
  4. After the restore completes, bring the volume online to a usable state. This can  be set by modifying the file system to a usable type.
  5. To restore incremental backups, browse in time to just before the first Incremental backup was created (after the last Full backup) and just after the last Incremental backup was created. See Browse Data Between a Specified Time for step-by-step instructions.
  6. Select the root of the volume and perform an Out-of-place Restore of the incremental backup to the raw file system that was created in Step 1. This restores the incremental backup on top of this file system.
