Restore Considerations for This Agent
Restore NetWare Data to a Protected Directory
The following page describes the agent-specific restore options. Additional restore options are accessible from the Related Topics menu.
The OES File System iDataAgent allows you to restore NSS file system data to:
Restore operations can be performed from the client, iDataAgent, and backup set levels in the CommCell Browser.
When there is a problem with the OES server or the operating system of the client computer, a full system restore may be required. See Restore Data - Linux File System - Full System Restore for more information.
Before performing any restore procedures for this agent, review the following information.
In addition to the OES server being powered on, the galaxy.nlm must be loaded.
Do not set a quota for an object (such as a volume, directory, or user) that is lower than the amount already used. Doing so may cause improper results for data protection or recovery operations.
Data residing on an NSS volume on Linux computers may be flagged as execute only when restored to a NetWare server. If this is the case, further backup operations using this data will fail as long as the data remains in this state.
You can use the ExcludeExecuteOnly key to reverse the execute only state for this data. To do so, perform the following steps:
Load tsafs.nlm /ExcludeExecuteOnly=false
If the ExcludeExecuteOnly key is not available, you must obtain the latest software updates from Novell.
Keep the following details in mind when restoring data:
For the OES File System iDataAgent, access to NetWare files and directories is controlled by a set of access privileges called trustee rights. To create a file or directory, you need Write and Create rights to the parent directory. Similarly, to restore data, these same rights are required.
When you restore file system data, the File System iDataAgent restores the data using the OES user account on the destination computer that was assigned to the software. The identity of this account is revealed by the General tab of the File System iDataAgent property box. To ensure that data can be restored to any path, we recommend that this account be assigned the Supervisor right. If however, the Supervisor right is not, and for your own reasons must not be, granted to this account, and you want to restore data to a directory to which the user account does not have the necessary rights, you can still restore the data using the Impersonate NetWare User restore option. Using this option, you can restore data to a directory to which the user account has insufficient trustee rights.
By default, the OES iDataAgent restores data to the client computer from which it originated; this is referred to as an in-place restore. You can also restore the data to another Client computer in the CommCell. Keep in mind the following considerations when performing such restores:
The following section enumerates the types of restore destinations that are supported by the OES iDataAgent. See Restore/Recover/Retrieve Destinations - Support for a list of Agents supporting each restore destination type.
