Detect and Configure a Hardware Copy Manager

Before You Begin

This feature requires a Feature License to be available in the CommServe® Server.

Review general license requirements included in License Administration. Also, View All Licenses provides step-by-step instructions on how to view the license information.

To detect and configure a Hardware Copy Manager:

  1. Display the Library and Drive Configuration window.
  2. In the Library and Drive Configuration window, click the Copy Manager tab.
  3. Right click Copy Managers and choose Detect/Config Devices.
  4. In the Detect Library Window, select SCSI Devices, and click OK.
  5. You will be informed to right click a device to configure it. Click OK to continue.
  6. Right click the detected copy manager and click Configure.
  7. The device will be displayed in the Copy Manager tab.
  8. Click OK.
  9. From the Library and Drive Configuration window, click the General tab to display the libraries and drives.
  10. Expand a library and then a master drive pool to display the drive pool for which you want to provide a copy manager. Right-click the drive pool, and then click Properties.
  11. From the Drive Pool Properties window, find the Copy Manager field and select the name of the appropriate hardware copy manager (router) from the corresponding drop-down list.
Be sure the hardware copy manager you select can communicate with the source volume to be backed up as well as the library.
  12. Repeat the previous steps for each drive pool that you want to associate with a hardware copy manager.
  13. Once one or more copy managers are configured, their names appear within a drop-down list in the Drive Pool Properties window.
  14. For each drive in that pool, right click and select Properties. Type the WWN of the hardware copy manager, and click OK.
  15. From the Start menu, select Exit.

This task is now complete.

When creating Storage Policies, be sure to specify a library and drive that you have configured using this procedure, or your backups will fail.
