The following table lists NAS NDMP features and whether it is supported by a particular vendor (marked by an X in the column). If the feature is supported and there are any exceptions to the standard in which the feature is implemented, they are also noted.

The default subclient is defined to backup one or more CIFS shares or NFS exports. If there are additional CIFS shares and/or NFS exports that are not included in an existing subclient definition, you need to create additional subclients for these CIFS shares or NFS exports, in order to backup that portion of the data. Subclient content is written as a composition of the following three parts:
The following examples illustrate a simple subclient configuration (default and subclient2) for a NAS NDMP file server with two CIFS shares:
|
No limitations for filters. Only support the asterisk * wildcard when adding entries to this set of exclusions, which will exclude files whose file names match certain patterns (e.g., *.nsf). The wildcard character must be the first or last character within the string, and each string may contain a maximum of two wildcard characters. |
EMC Celerra |
Each File Server (Data Mover) in your EMC Celerra Filer is considered to be a separate NAS client. Subclient content is written as a composition of the following two parts:
The following examples illustrate a simple subclient configuration for a filer with two directories.
|
There is a limitation of 5 path filters and an additional 5 name filters (or any combination thereof) for DART OS 5.5 and above. For older versions of DART OS, backup filters are not supported. |
Hitachi |
Subclient content is written as a composition of the following two parts:
The following examples illustrate a simple subclient configuration for a filer with two directories:

Backup filters are not supported. |

If your default subclient comprises only /vol/vol0 and you have additional volumes on your filer, you need to create additional subclients for these volumes, in order to backup that portion of the data. The size of your subclient directly impacts the length of time it takes to do a backup and restore. A maximum size of 50-80G per subclient is recommended. Subclient content is written as a composition of the following two parts:
The following examples illustrate a simple subclient configuration for a filer with two volumes:
You cannot add multiple content items for a subclient where the content items have case-only differences. Only one of these content items will be saved. Choose a lower level content item that includes both content items. Additionally, you can use two subclients. |
Only support the asterisk * wildcard when adding entries to this set of exclusions, which will exclude files whose file names match certain patterns (e.g., *.nsf). For these iDataAgents, the wildcard character must be the first or last character within the string, and each string may contain a maximum of two wildcard characters. |
