Pre-Declaring Clients

Overview

Pre-declaring process allow you to pre-declare the supported client computers to the CommCell. This features can be useful incases where operations center plans to add new clients to the CommCell that are not yet ready to connect.

Pre-declare process provides the ability to configure the following features before installing the agent's software:

Once you configure the above features you can later install the agent software using Install Software from CommCell Console procedure. Note that this feature does not require a license for use.

Use the following procedure to pre-declare the client computer to the CommCell.

Pre-Declaring a Client

This section describes how to create a new client from the CommCell Console.

1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the Client Computers icon, then select New Client.
2. From Select Client drop down list, select Windows or Unix depending upon the operating system of your client computer.

Click OK to continue.

3. In the Windows Client Creation dialog provide the following:
  • Client Name: Provide the local name of the client computer.
  • Host Name: Provide the interface name that the client computer must use to communicate with the CommServe Server.

For Unix, the dialog appears as Unix Client Creation Dialog.

Click OK.

4. Refresh the CommCell Console to see the newly created Client. (To refresh, select the View menu, then Refresh).
