This report shows the trend of data growth for an entire CommCell, within a specified time range, using the Activity Qualifier Window, which is based on the settings in the Cell Configuration (Data Protection Window).
First run this report for daily results, then weekly, monthly and finally yearly. Users can view data growth information as far back as five years. This will help you to spot trends, and is useful for the following:
The sum of all data protection operations that started within a given day comprise the reported data size for that day. (e.g., if there are two full data protection operations on a given day, the sum of both is reported.)
Predicted data growth values are interpolated from the actual data growth values over a period of days called the repetition pattern. For example, if you specify seven days, the data growth predictor will use the growth pattern from the last seven days to predict the future data growth. Predicted values therefore are more accurate when past trends in data growth activity within the selected time range are normal and indicative of expected data growth activity. The repetition pattern and the number of days predicted is set in the Time Range Selection Filter. Also, note that the data growth history for the current day/week/month/year (determined by your selection) is not considered by data prediction. The last full day/week/month/year is used for the prediction.
Data Size Type
Data size can be displayed in terms of application size or media size.
If selected, data will be presented in terms of application size, which indicates the amount of data protected during backup operations.
If selected, data will be presented in terms of media size, which is the amount of data written to the media; this includes backup, encrypted, compressed, and deduplicated data if applicable.
This summary screen provides information at a glance about data growth activity on all your selected CommCells on a given day. For example, the value for Tuesday would represent all the data growth activity that occurred on Tuesday across all of the selected CommCells. You can quickly identify large increases and decreases in data growth trends across all of your entire CommNet domain.
Data From Incremental or Other Data Protection Jobs
Shows the data from incremental or other data protection jobs for either a given agent type or from all agent types.
Click a bar to see an additional chart showing a further break-down of that day's data protection operations by application; then click a bar in the new chart to see a Data Protection Detail Report with a listing of individual data protection operations. In the Data Protection Detail Report, you can double-click any entry to access the Job Detail screen, which provides more space for Failure Reason, Attempt and Copy information to be displayed.
Data From Full Data Protection Jobs
Shows the data from full data protection jobs for either a given agent type or from all agent types. Synthetic full data protection operations are considered as full for the sake of this chart.

In the Data Protection Detail Report, you can double-click any entry to access the Job Detail screen, which provides more space for Failure Reason, Attempt and Copy information to be displayed.
Note that the graphs and charts for Quick Recovery Agent differ slightly from those of other agents. These differences are due to the first Incremental volume update not being considered as full in the back up model and data protection only through Incremental volume updates. Hence, the Full Data Protection Jobs bar graph does not list Quick Recovery and in Data Size Detail Information, all columns for Quick Recovery display with 0 MB. The report may not show the trend of data growth for Quick Recovery, as the destination volume is fixed and allocated.
