Run the CommCell Console as a Remote Web-Based Application - Windows

Before you Begin

To access the CommCell Console as a Remote Web-Based Application, you need the following:

  1. Open a Java-enabled web browser from any computer with which the CommServe is accessible.
  2. Type the URL of the CommServe in the browser.

    By default, the URL is: http://<CommServe_name>/<web_alias>.

    If you are using the IIS of an alternate computer, the default URL is http://<name of computer with IIS installed>/<web_alias>.

    Note that the alternate computer must have IIS and the CommCell Console installed and the IIS Server settings must be configured to use the alternate computer's IIS server.

  3. The first time you attempt to access the CommServe remotely, the system will check to see whether the Java plug-in is installed. If it is not, you will be given the option to download and install it. 
  4. When prompted by the Java plug-in installation window, select the desired location and then follow the instructions to download and install it. 
  5. If prompted to use the Java plug-in as your default JRE, click Yes.

    In a few moments, the Connect To CommCell window appears.

  1. Open a Java-enabled web browser from any computer with which the CommServe is accessible.
  2. Type the URL of the CommServe in the browser.

    By default, the URL is: http://<CommServe_name>/<web_alias>

    If you are using the IIS of an alternate computer, the default URL is http://<name of computer with IIS installed>/<web_alias>.

    Note that the alternate computer must have IIS and the CommCell Console installed and the IIS Server settings must be configured to use the alternate computer's IIS server.

  3. Click Yes if you wish to create Desktop and Start menu shortcuts for the CommCell Console.

    These shortcuts will allow you to subsequently access the CommCell Console by either clicking the Desktop icon or navigating to the software's folder in the Start | Programs menu.

    If you do not wish to create these shortcuts, click No.

    Note that this option will only appear the first time you remotely access the CommCell Console from that computer.

  4. In the Welcome dialog box, type the username, password, and CommServe name.

    In a few moments, the CommCell Console will be displayed.
