Manually Updating the CommServe or Domain name on Client/MediaAgent Computers
If you perform an operation to change the Client Name, Host Name or CS Host Name
using the CommCell Console and if the operation fails to change the information
in the client computer, you must manually edit the following registry key in the
client to make the name change effective.
Registry keys Associated with Client/MediaAgent Client Name, Host Name or
Domain Name Change
The following registry keys are modified in the client computer.
sCLIENTNAME
- to change the display name of the Client/MediaAgent computer.
sHOSTNAME - to
change the host name of the Client/MediaAgent computer.
Registry key name with machine name at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CommVaultSystems\Galaxy\Instance001\Machines"
needs to be changed.
Linux
The following registry key are modified in the client computer.
Change the sPhysicalNodeName in the .properties file
/etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/<Instancename>/.properties.
Rename the machine name folder at the location
/etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/Instance001/Machines to new name.
Change the sHOSTNAME
in the .properties file /etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/Instance001/Machines/<machine_name>/.properties.

The following registry key is modified in the client computer.
sCSHOSTNAME
- to change the CommServe name associate with the Client/MediaAgent computer.
Important Considerations
General
If the name change operation fails in which informing the clients of the Clients
of the CS name change then perform the following steps.
Restart the services on the CommServe computer.
Restart the services on those Client/MediaAgent computers, in which the
error occurred.
