Getting Started - ContinuousDataReplicator

Prerequisites

Quick Start

The following diagram illustrates the sequence of operations for getting started with ContinuousDataReplicator.

Where to go From Here

  1. Get familiar with CommCell Console. The CommCell Console is the graphical user interface that allows you to control and manage a CommCell. See CommCell Console for more information.
  2. Activate the license. If the Agent was installed using an evaluation license, make sure to activate the license. See Update Licenses for step-by-step instructions.
  3. Fine-tune this Agent using the following key features:

    Configuration

    Agents

Once this Agent is installed, it is displayed in the CommCell Browser as a level under the client computer in which it is installed. Several configurable options are available at this level.

See Agents - ContinuousDataReplicator for more information.

    Snapshots

Snapshots represent a point-in-time of the data that can be used for various data protection operations. A snapshot is essentially an instantaneous set of pointers to the original data (sometimes referred to as a logical view) as it was at a given point-in-time. When the original data is changed, the pointers will trigger a copy of the original data block; this maintains the snapshot, allowing data protection operations to proceed without interruption.

    See Snapshots for more information.

    Recovery Points

Recovery Points consist of snapshots of data and preserve a point-in-time on the data for various recovery operations. Recovery Points enable you to protect data, and also expand the number of options while recovering data.

See Recovery Points for more information.

    Administration

    Scheduling

Scheduling jobs within the CommCell ensures that the jobs in the CommCell are automatically performed on a regular basis without user intervention.

    See Scheduling for more information.

    User Administration

Users have access to the resources and features of the CommCell based on several factors, including their user group association and its defined permissions. By default, the administrator user has access to all components in the CommCell.

See User Administration and Security for more information.

    Additional features

This Agent includes a host of other features that can be used to customize the data protection operation in your environment. For a comprehensive list of all features available for this agent, expand the Operations, Configuration Administration and Management options in the table of contents displayed in the left pane.
