Getting Started with SRM


You can select from one of the following options to start using SRM:

Agentless SRM (Compact version of SRM)

Agentless SRM allows running the Discovery level jobs and the generating reports for management and planning of storage resources. If you plan to implement and use Agentless SRM, refer to Agentless SRM documentation.

 

Windows File System iDataAgent (Add-On to Backup)

SRM Reporting and Summaries are integrated with Windows File System Backup Agent as an Add-On feature. If you plan to implement and use it as an integrated feature, refer to SRM for Windows File System - Reports.

SRM Windows File System Agent (Stand-Alone)

SRM Windows File System Agent can also be installed as a separate agent. If you plan to use it as a separate agent, follow the documentation in this web.

Where to go From Here

  1. Get familiar with CommCell Console. The CommCell Console is the graphical user interface that allows you to control and manage a CommCell. See CommCell Console for more information.
  2. Activate the license. If the Agent was installed using an evaluation license, make sure to activate the license. See Update Licenses for step-by-step instructions.
  3. Fine-tune this Agent using the following key features:

    Scheduling

    Schedule the Data Collection and Report generation operations. Scheduling helps to ensure that these tasks are automatically performed on a regular basis.     Advisories

    Create the necessary Advisories for this Agent. Advisories are brief text messages describing an actual or potential problem detected by SRM, and the suggested corrective action to rectify the issue. See Enable/Disable Advisories for instructions to enable advisories.
