Create Agentless SRM Policy

Required Capability: See Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To create Agentless SRM Policy:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies and right-click on Agentless SRM policy node, and Add New Agentless SRM Policy. This launches the Agentless SRM Policy Wizard.
  2. Add a Name for the policy and click Next.
  3. Select the Client Computers' operating system, Windows or UNIX.
  4. Select one of the options for how the computers should be identified for installation:

    Exclude Discovery of computers with SRM agents already installed

    Allows excluding the computers with SRM Agents already installed from being discovered.

    Force Collection of Previously failed clients

    Allows discovering clients that earlier failed from discovery.

    Data Collection Options

    Allows selecting what type of data will be collected in the Agentless policy being created.

  5. Enter the target client names, you can do so using the following options:
  6. From the list of available clients, select a Proxy client that has SRM File System Agent installed.
  7. Click Next and enter the Username and Password to be used for installing the client.
  8. Click Next to view the Summary screen.
  9. Click Finish.

  1. From the CommCell Browser expand Policies, right-click the Agentless SRM Policies and click Add New Agentless SRM Policy.
  2. This opens the Agentless SRM Policy Wizard, enter a name for the Agentless Policy and click Next.
  3. Select Windows and click Next.
  4. Select one of the options for how the computers should be identified for installation:

    Exclude Discovery of computers with SRM agents already installed

    Allows excluding the computers with SRM Agents already installed from being discovered.

  5. Enter Host Name of the computers where Agentless Data Collection will be configured using one of the following options:

  7. Click Next and enter the Username and Password to be used for installing the client.
  8. Click Next to view the Summary screen.
  9. Click Finish.

  1. From the CommCell Browser expand Policies, right-click the Agentless SRM Policies and click Add New Agentless SRM Policy.
  2. This opens the Agentless SRM Policy Wizard, enter a name for the Agentless Policy and click Next.
  3. Select Windows and click Next.
  4. Select Automatically discover clients for automatically detecting the clients available in the specified domain and click Next.
  5. From the dialog box that opens, click Add and enter the Active Directory Server information in the dialog box that follows and click OK.
  6. From the list of available clients, select a Proxy client that has SRM File System Agent installed.
  7. Click Next and enter the Username and Password to be used for installing the client.
  8. Click Next to view the Summary screen.
  9. Click Finish.

Setup Managed Clients on UNIX Manually

Required Capability: See Capabilities and Permitted Actions

  The user account on the managed Unix server must have the following:
  • Root level access (or sudo equivalent)
  • SSH login permission
  • A home directory on the Unix server where the discovery will run

  1. From the CommCell Browser expand Policies, right-click the Agentless SRM Policies and click Add New Agentless SRM Policy.
  2. This opens the Agentless SRM Policy Wizard, enter a name for the Agentless Policy and click Next.
  3. Select Unix and Linux and click Next.
  4. Select Manually select clients for manually specifying the client information and click Next.
  5. Enter Host Name of the computers where Agentless Data Collection will be configured using one of the following options:
  6. From the list of available clients, select a Proxy client that has SRM File System Agent installed.
  7. Click Next and enter the Username and Password to be used for installing the client.

  3. Select Unix and Linux and click Next.
  4. Select Automatically discover clients for automatically detecting the clients available in the specified domain and click Next.
  5. From the dialog box that opens, click Add and enter the Directory Service Server Information in the dialog box that follows and click OK.
    note.gif (292 bytes) If you select NIS for UNIX, all selected clients must have a user with root privileges created on each of the clients with same password.

    If a SUDO user has been created for root access, the following commands must be added for Agentless clients:

    Linux - /sbin/fdisk, /sbin/vgdisplay, /usr/sbin/exportfs, /usr/bin/rpm, /usr/sbin/parted, /usr/sbin/vxdisk, /usr/sbin/vxprint

    Solaris - /usr/sbin/format, /usr/sbin/vxdisk, /usr/sbin/vxprint, /usr/sbin/psrinfo, /usr/sbin/prtvtoc

    AIX - /usr/sbin/repquota, /usr/sbin/vxdisk, /usr/sbin/vxprint

    HPUX - /usr/sbin/ioscan, /usr/sbin/diskinfo, /usr/sbin/vxdisk, /usr/sbin/vxprint

  6. From the list of available clients, select a Proxy client that has SRM File System Agent installed.
  7. Click Next and enter the Username and Password to be used for installing the client.
  8. Click Next to view the Summary screen.
  9. Click Finish.

Schedule Agentless SRM Policies

wedge.gif (136 bytes)To schedule an exiting SRM Agentless Policy:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies and select Agentless SRM Policies.
  2. In the main window right-click the Policy that needs to be scheduled and click Create Schedule.
  3. In the Job Initiation dialog box, choose Immediate or Schedule.
note.gif (292 bytes) If you have selected the Run Immediately option, you can track the progress of the job from the Job Controller window.
  1. Click Configure and select the required scheduling options.
  2. Click OK.
