The bullx B500 compute blade was designed with HPC in mind. It brings together the best components available on the market, and only those necessary for HPC, delivering uncompromised performance.

Chassis bullx bladeThe bullx blade chassis can host up to 18 single-width bullx B500 Nehalem Compute Blades (NCB) in 7U.

The bullx blade chassis provides a peak performance of up to 1.69 Tflops with Nehalem-EP processors (Intel® Xeon® 5500 series processors) and  up to 2.53 Tflops with Westmere-EP processors (Intel® Xeon® 5600 series processors). 

Each blade liberates the power of two latest-generation Intel® Xeon® processors and so benefits from incredibly wide and flexible bandwidth, thanks to the new Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) technology.

Each blade contains: 

  • 2 high-frequency Intel® Xeon® 5000 series processors  

Intel® Xeon® 5500 series processors or Nehalem-EP (up to 4 cores at 2.93GHz)
Intel® Xeon® 5600 series processors or Westmere-EP (up to 6 cores at 3.06 GHz)

  • 1 Intel S5500 chipset (Tylersburg IOH-24D) with QPI up to 6.4GT/s

  • A large memory capacity (up to 96GB memory per blade)

Up to 12 DDR3 dimm

  • 1 InfiniBand QDR link ConnectX or ConnectX-2
  • 1 Gb dual port Ethernet controller for the links to CMM and ESM
  • 1 Integrated Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)
  • 1 SATA disk (1.8", 80/120/250 GB) or 1 SSD drive (1.8", 60/120 GB)
