Overview

The Media Prediction Report anticipates and lists the media required by operations performed within the entire CommCell. Contrast this with List Media (Media Prediction), which predicts the media required per individual backup sets, instances, or subclients. This report is useful to predict media required for the following operations Commcell-wide:

Data recovery operations for particular agents and clients.
Synthetic Full Backups for particular agents and clients.
Auxiliary Copy operations affiliated with particular storage policies.
Offline Content Indexing operations affiliated with particular storage policies.
Data Verification operations affiliated with particular storage policies.
Silo Storage operations associated with specific storage policy copies.

Usage

This report is useful if you require:

To plan media needs accordingly on an enterprise-wide scale.
To ensure that media required by an operation is available in the library, especially if you are restoring/recovering data across a firewall.
To identify resource conflicts where the media is used by more than one operation.
To identify and restore/recover from a copy that accesses a faster magnetic disk media rather than slower tape/optical media.
