The Coverage Qualifier Window determines whether a client has data protection coverage on a specific day. A completed data protection operation which starts within the Coverage Qualifier Window is treated as coverage for the day.

Consider the following examples to define this value:

• You may perform an data protection operation on Tuesday morning, if you notice that your scheduled Monday operation (to obtain Monday's data) had failed. In this case, although you may perform the operation on Tuesday, it is Monday's data that is secured.

  If the CommCells in the CommNet domain follows this practice, consider defining the Coverage Qualifier Window after the period that will be needed to run such immediate data protection operations, e.g., mid-morning.

• You may randomly perform immediate data protection operations during the daytime, whenever you find large volumes of data that you wish to protect. In this case this data is specific to the day on which the data protection operation is performed.

  If the CommCells in the CommNet domain follow this practice, consider defining the Coverage Qualifier Window to start at a time when operations in the CommCells are scheduled to start.

If a client's data changes dynamically throughout the day, then any data protection operation performed before close of business may not cover all the data for the specific day. In this case, consider specifying the Coverage Qualifier Window to be the close of business hour.
