Upgrading Workstation Backup to Laptop Backup - User

Administrator User

Perform the following steps on the source client:

  1. Delete the Replication Set.
  2. Uninstall the Workstation Backup Agent.
  3. Install the Custom Package.

Delete the Replication Set

  1. Verify that no jobs for the Workstation Backup agent are in progress or scheduled while you are deleting the replication set.
    • If any job is in progress, kill the job from the  the Job Controller of CommCell Console.
    • If any job is scheduled, delete all the schedules for the Workstation Backup agent.
  2. From the CommCell Console navigate to Client Computers | <Client> | Work Station Backup agent.
  3. Right-click the <Replication Set> and select Delete.
  4. Click Yes.

Uninstall the Work Station Backup Agent

Follow the steps given below to uninstall the Work Station Backup Agent:

  1. Log on to the client computer as local Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group on that computer.
  2. Open the Add/Remove Programs icon in the system’s Control Panel.

    For Windows Vista/Windows 2008, click Uninstall a Program under Programs in the Control Panel.

  3. If you are uninstalling from a computer that uses Multi Instancing, you will see the Instance number to which each component was installed; be sure to select the correct instance of the component you want to remove.
  4. Select the following components and then click Remove or Uninstall.

    If you are uninstalling components from a Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 platform, a message is displayed asking if you would like to stop services prior to continuing the uninstall. Select Do Not Close Applications if this message appears.

  5. Select the desired language and click Next to continue.
  6. Click Yes to delete the folder containing your log files, job control files and program files.
  7. Click Yes to delete the install folder.
    You will be prompted to delete the install folder only if the component you are uninstalling is the last component remaining on the computer.
  8. Click OK.
  9. After you have uninstalled all the agents on the client computer, repeat the steps 1 to 8 to uninstall the Base Software.

Install the Custom Package

Follow the Laptop User Instructions to install the custom package provided by the administrator on the source client.
