Browse Archived Data

From the CommCell Console, Browse operations allow you to view the archived data and to easily identify the message(s) that you want to retrieve. The Browse/Recovery window in the CommCell Console is the central window from which you browse and retrieve data.

Find Archived Data

The Find message feature is a powerful search tool that searches the archived data for any messages that match the pattern used in the search. This search capability can also be enhanced with Content Indexing, which allows you to search the contents of the archived messages and attachments, in addition to the subject and name parameters. The Find command is available from the browse window, and a non-browse Find is also available from the agent level All Tasks menu for this agent.

Searching Content Indexed Data

In addition to Find operation, you can also search the content of messages, attachments, files and/or documents. However, to do this, the data need to be content indexed. Content Indexing the data enables you to search the data based on various criteria. You can perform content indexing on both protected/archived data as well as file server/desktop data.

In order to perform a content indexing and search operation, do the following:

• Set up the Content Indexing Engine.
• Configure the Storage Policy for Offline Content Indexing.
• Enable Search from the Client. To perform search from the Search Console, you would also need to setup the Web Search Server and Web Search Client

The content indexed data can later be searched using the following method:

Search from Search Console

1. Access the Search Console.
2. From the Search Console, type the text string or wildcard pattern that you are searching for in the entry space at the top of the window. Note that the asterisk ( * ) and question mark ( ? ) characters are treated as valid wildcards unless surrounded by double-quotes.
3. You can further refine your search by clicking Advanced Search and then entering the desired criteria in the Advanced Search option tabs as appropriate for your search.
4. Once you have entered all the search criteria, click Submit on the Advanced Search window.
