CommNet Browser cannot log on to the CommNet Server

The CommNet Server computer is not reachable

Verify that the network communication between the CommNet Browser computer and the CommNet Server computer is working with the CommNet Interface Name.

Verify that the CommNet Server Service is running on the CommNet Server computer. If it is not, start CommNet Server services; see Services.

The CommNet Browser and the CommNet Server software versions do not match

  1. Upgrade the software version of the CommNet Browser, as described in Books Online.
  2. Try to log on to the CommNet Server as a Remote Web-Based Application.

You do not have a valid user name and password to log on to the CommNet Server

Contact your software administrator.

Maximum number of user connections are exceeded

From the CommNet Browser, check to see if the maximum number of logged in user connections exceeds the maximum number of simultaneous connections that are allowed to be opened. You can change this number by following the procedure Setting up the Maximum Number of CommNet Browsers that can be Opened.

Your browser is caching outdated files

After applying a Service Pack or upgrading the software, your browser may be caching outdated files. Clear the cache, close the browser, then relaunch it and try connecting to the CommNet Server again.


CommNet Browser has Lost the Connection with the CommNet Server

The CommNet Browser session may be disconnected due to idle time

See Modify the CommNet Browser Timeout Interval for step-by-step instructions on modifying the idle time.

To reconnect, go to the File menu and then click Login.

In the Login dialog box, enter your password.

The CommNet Server Service may not be running

When the CommNet Browser loses connection with the CommNet Server Service, it will automatically try to reconnect to the service five times at 1 minute intervals. The status bar displays a Yellow icon to indicate the browser status. If you see this Yellow icon, simply wait until the status bar displays a Green icon. If however, the status bar displays the Red icon, restart the services as described in Services and then reconnect the CommNet Browser as described above.


Cannot open the CommCell Console using the Remote Administration option in the CommNet Browser

The Remote Administration option in the CommNet Browser opens the CommCell Console as a Remote Web-Based Application.

The following components are required to open the CommCell Console remotely:

If one or more of these components are not available, use the following procedure to access the CommCell Console from the CommNet Browser:

  1. Unregister the CommCell as described in Remove a Registered Cell.
  2. Perform one or more of the following:
  3. Register the CommCell as described in Register a Cell.

The CommCell does not have the correct URL, or a URL does not exist

Change the URL of the CommCell Cell by following the procedure Change the URL for Launching the CommCell Console for Remote Administration or contact your software administrator.

Your version of Internet Explorer blocks pop-ups

Make sure that your version of Internet Explorer does not block pop-ups.

You don't have the latest service packs installed

Make sure you have the latest service packs installed for the CommServe you are trying to launch.

CommNet Browser Cannot be Closed after Failover

During the failover, the CommNet Browsers that are connected to the CommNet server are disconnected and then reconnected. With this, the browsers may not close since the jar files are not accessible on the shared disk. The CommNet Browser can be closed using the Windows Task Manager.
